I bought this kayak with the intent of adding a trolling motor to it. After doing a good bit of research, I found it to be about the cheapest one available that had a 500 pound weight limit and the features that I wanted. Overall, a great kayak for it's price range. (Wal-mart had the SAME kayak last year with the Ozark Trails name on it for $100 less)Seems very stable. I added a trolling motor, motor mount, a 60 pound battery, all my fishing gear, fish finder, food, drinks, and my 210 pounds without a problem. It tracks well and handled the weight. The plastic hull does seem a bit softer than the more expensive ones. The tracks and the rod mount for the rod they provide are a bit too far forward of the seat for comfort for my 5' 8" and suspect it would still be for a taller person too. The scupper holes are a bit odd. They are what appears to be standard sized on the top and bottom, but in the center of them where the seam is, they narrow down to a very small hole that you can't stick the tip of your pinkey in. This causes for slow drainage and required me to make some modifications to run my transducer through a scupper hole.So far, I haven't had any problems with the seat slipping as some have reported. Perhaps this shortcoming was fixed or only occurred on some of them.Overall, I am very satisfied.P.S. It was not shipped through USPS or UPS. Amazon had it kinda bouncing around the U.S., I assume from warehouse to warehouse. It arrived via a Ryder truck and two friendly folks. It arrived in good shape and within the time they said it would, I just found it interesting to watch it bounce back and forth before getting here.

The first and only time I took the kayak out was a disaster. I was only out for about 15 minutes about 4pm in Texas. I had the seat in the high position and was just paddling around. It was about 95 degrees and clear. The seat came crashing down to the bottom of the kayak. The walls of the back of the kayak that the seat mounts are attached to push out and buckled up causing the seat to come out of the seat mounts. I believe it is because the sun had heated up the plastic and with the weight of me seated on the set cause the kayak to spread apart. I believe the kayak does not have enough support built into the kayak to keep it from moving. Just a bad design on Sun Dolphin’s Boss SS. Unless you are willing to come up with a fix that will resolve this problem you cannot set in the high position.

Fantastic kayak especially for the price. Be sure to double-check all screws, mounts, etc. I only had to tighten a couple on my seat mount, but other than that, no issues.

I purchased this product on 8/26/19 it arrived on time 9/8/19, I took it out on 9/10/19. I was enjoying myself untilthe seat left side slipped out of the bracket because of the softness of the kayak.I came home and called Hemisphere Design Works the manufacture of the product, the lady I talk to was nice she said they would send out the materials I would need to fix the problem,[some bolts, screws} well we will see. I like the product, I just want it to work

I’m 5’11” and 250lbs. It was very comfortable and I felt very stable in it. The seat was in the high position and was very comfortable. Lots of room on it. The only flaw I saw was the rod holder placement. It’s too far forward. It I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it for the money!!

Took kayak out for the first time, and the seat will not stay in the top notch position. The left side of seat, when setting in it,slides out of the notches due to the kayak flexing/ stretching causing the seat bracket nit to rrach/ slideout. We submitted a concern to amazon and they are replacing the kayak/ with exchange of the defected one we received. Hoping it was a flock with just this one kayak, and the replacement does not do the same. I will report back once we receive the new one.
