The nice advantage of this type of sandpaper, they have a breakout tip that can broken off and be reversed and re-applied. Working into corners of stairs, naturally you're going to use the very tip most to get into crevices. As a consequence any sandpaper will wear off at the tip first. But... the part that didn't get as much wear, that tip can be reversed and re-applied ... so you get your tip again. In a sense you get double duty out of it. I found it removed material quickly.
