To determine which size clamp you need, assemble your parts as close to how they will be fitted in the vehicle. Then, measure the outer diameter (OD) of all pieces. If you cannot assemble the parts, you can measure the OD of the hose or pipe and add the thickness of any external couplers. For applications where the clamped hose or pipe slips over a barb, the OD is the only measurement you need to know. You should find a clamp whose clamping range covers this size. Ideally, you should choose a clamp where the size you need falls somewhere in the middle of the clamping range, as a clamp’s holding force is lower closer to its minimum or maximum diameter.

Theses clamps boast 100% circumference squeezing force unlike screw drive clamps which fail under compression or vibrational load eventually loosening seal.

100% perfect clamping so far, even on a hose/barb that was fussy with the original screw style clamp.I will use for all future hose clamping that does not need “tool free” removal in the field.Go to your hardware store and pick up some larger rings in the PEX department.NOTE: I just said pex, but I do not believe this is the right tool for that. I think that takes more squeeze.

The crimper tool is not the one advertised in the picture. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it’s a larger cheaper tool that looks more like wire cutters than the actual crimping tool needed. The crimping/cutter jaws are uneven and wouldn’t even work well for cutting wire they appear to be actually made for. Now I have to go buy another actual crimping tool for the hose clamps putting my project further behind schedule.

The package I received had only seven sizes of clamps, not eight. There were 20 of the 18.5 mm and zero of the 20 mm.
