I’m a novice user of froes, but I’ll admit that I bought an inexpensive one first. I had so many issues with the inexpensive choice after just 2 hours of use (bent blade, broken weld, handle falls through hole in blade in both directions, etc), but I was determined to see if I could succeed. So I decided to go with the Biber Classic. It wasn’t cheap, but I’ve used it significantly over the past few days, and it has performed wonderfully. I hope it lasts as I’ve got a lot of shake to make.

Although the steel seems to be heavy and looks to be good quality (as much as you can tell by looking), the handle fell off in the first 15 minutes of use. I jammed it back in, but it keeps falling out. For the money I paid for this, I expected MUCH higher quality.

A great hand tool for working with logs. I have split logs with it and also used it to make wooden shingles. Very sturdy and hefty. The wooden handle is nice and strong. Great product at a good price.

This is well forged in outstanding. My only issue was that I had to reset the handle upon arrival. But judging from the shipping it looks like it came from Alabama to northern Michigan in the middle of our winter and is quite a climate change for any piece of hickory. Reset the handle and it’s been working great. Well forged piece of equipment.

Great, heavy duty quality. Works as advertised. Takes a bit to master. Well worth the cost. Will be buying some of their other products soon.
