This is a very lightweight charger that works quickly. Compared to OEM very affordable.

Knowing what I know about charging circuitry, I've never been entirely comfortable with using an expensive radio (I-Com 705 and ID52) as a battery charger. So, as I said in the title, this take a load off my mind. Still, as we all understand, buying a device like this make by I-Com means paying way too much for a simple charger. Although I'm certain that the power supply that comes from I-Com version is probably engineered for low-noise and the like, I've never found that such problems (when they arise) can't be solved with a ferrite bead. A bit of noise from a low-amp power supply won't effect the charging capabilities.

My Icom ID51-A fit perfectly in the charging cradle. Fully charging the hand-held was a breeze. Very good product. I would highly recommend it.

My plug in charger wall wart (that plugs into the power/charge port on the side of the ID-51) began to have issues, and would not charge the battery; the charge indicator began to show weird behavior (returning to 0 bars after just one bar lit, instead of progressively showing four bars across, right to left). I don't know if it is the wall wart, the charge port on the radio, or some internal circuitry on the radio. I bought this charger stand and a BP-272 clone battery by the same company for the ID-51, and both work just fine with my radio. The charger connects directly to the battery terminals and does not use the charge/power in port on the radio. In addition, it readily charged my old BP-271 battery, as well. If I experience a failure later on, I will update this review.
