I been buying Bates work boots for 6 years. Never really had a problem with them. But the last 3 pairs I bought not lasting very long. The last pair only made it 5 months before the Stitching came apart. They all came apart in the same area. Bates boots use to last a year or more. Had a pair that made it 2 years before replacing. I couldn't figure out if it was me or the boots. Until I went to their web page. Found out Wolverine owns Bates boots. Wolverine boots had the same problem. Stitching coming apart.I found out all Wolverine boots are made of poor quality in China. Now Bates boots doing the same thing with the stitching. I have never been so disappointed. I work hard for my money as a diesel mechanic. I don't have money to throw away. So, If you want to throw away money on Boots buy the Bates or Wolverine boots. I am done with this company and well never buy their boots again.

Got these bad boys for work. Been put through alot and still kickin. Only gripe, and minor, the cushion around ankle is thicker than I would like causing pant legs to get caught.

So far, haven't had any complaints with these. Bought two pairs of these boots on recommendation of my captain after injuring my foot doing 12 miles of foot patrol a day. Paired these with some good insoles and I'm confident the composite toe will aide me in some hand-to-hand encounters later on in the future.Usually don't like side-zipper set-ups; but, these boots are particularly sturdy with their zipper design. You definitely won't be regretting an investment in these boots.

I use the Bates boots for my work, but needed a toe protection so decided to go with this one. Because of the toe protection cover, had to break it in little longer than usual, but after break in, it's very comfortable. If you're not used to wearing shoes with toe protection, it may hurt your toes depending on your posture, but aside from that, at least for me, it's very comfortable. Will buy again if needed.

I used to buy Bates boots every year, to replace my previous pair due to wear and tear. So for about 4 years I bought a 13 WIDE, now I have to buy a 15 wide. I thought my foot changed shape but it didn't. The shoe changed. My older 13 wide, yes it is worn but the size of the soul is physically bigger then 15 wide. It appears using a paper tape, that the 13 wide from 3 years ago is the correct measurement where the 15 wide does not meet US standards for size. So size up.... and if you can try before you buy, because like me you will return a pair. I will prob be looking for another boot company at this point.

I have been using these for a week with no blisters while breaking them in. Make sure to order your exact size as they fit exactly as expected. My only complaint is of the weird placement of the shoe lace holes, they are vertical contrary to normal which makes lacing them up a little difficult. The weight of these are middle of the road and are easy to adjust to.

Great looking and comfortable boots. Competitive pricing for the quality. Zipper is super easy and there is no need to pull both ends together before zipping. I like the design so much I decided to get a second pair. If you are cross shopping id also consider some Rothco 8" Forced Entry boots. Avoid the Propper brand however.

I've been using my new Sport Tactical 2 for about a week now. It takes a few days to break in. Bates are built tough. So if these last a year; I got my money's worth.....It's a completely different feel. Different pressure points...Compared to the original Tactical Sport. Overall, it's a much more snug feeling. Feels like a size 12 for me. I always recommend replacing/adding another insole. I particularly use the 'Sofsole' brand. The Original Tactical Sport I could use two sets of insoles. Not with this one. However, they are still comfortable with one set. My soles don't hurt after a work shift. This one is designed a bit shorter too. It's not so tall like the original where it was almost to the bottom of your calves. It's just a tad bit wider. Still not a 'New Balance' Extra wide. But it's better for my extra wide points of the metatarsal areas.I work in a bathroom with wet floors. So it does fine on water. I can't say about grease/oil.The heel to toe drop is a plus for me. So when I'm standing it doesn't feel like I'm leaning toward my toes.I have extra wide sensitive feet. With plantar fasciitis. I took a chance on these. And I think they'll work okay.
