This is identical to the original charger and works just the same. It's nice being able to charge me Baofeng again!

The packaging that the chargers came in was insufficient. One of the two I ordered was broken. It still works but the base is broken all down the front side. Need to be placed in a small box or something sturdier than a bubble envelope.

I couldn't find the original charger that came with my radio, so I ordered this one. It does the job. The radio isn't snug but I got it to charge after a little wiggling so I'm find with it.

So, I moved recently and somehow managed to lose the charger and base for one of my UV-82 radios. Although I still had one, I knew that I needed another as a spare (one is none, two is one). If found this "original" desktop charger on Amazon for a good price. It arrived perfectly on time.Then, I tried it on one of the actual radios. It did not fit -- the opening in the charger base was a bit larger than one of my actual original charger bases. No matter what I did, I could not get the radio to fit in well enough to make connection and charge the battery. At this point I am feeling sort of ripped-off. But, I slept on it and tried again the next day after carefully inspecting the actual original charger base and this "original" charger. For the first time, I noticed that there are ridges along the sides of each of the charger bases that engage in grooves on the sides of the radio (actually the battery) to hold it snugly in place on the charger base.So, this time I inserted the radio and made sure that the grooves on the radio actually engaged the ridges on the sides of be base. Low and behold, it fit, and worked! It actually does work and pretty much like the actual original if you realize how it is supposed to work and use is properly. So, even though the dimensions of the opening in the charger base is larger than on the actual original, it will work just fine if used properly. Lesson learned.So, I verified that this works with the radio with battery installed (both standard and high capacity battery). I also verified that it works with with the battery only (both standard and high capacity. It does.I decided to take off a star simply because it says "original" in the description when, technically, it is NOT exactly the same as the true original charger base even though the model number is the same. Yeah, I am being picky but that is what reviews are for. If it is not perfect, it is not 5-star.Bottom line: This is a good item and a good value. And, it proved to me yet again, one is never too old to learn something new...
