Call them what you will, these spoke protectors (or "dork discs" ) will protect your rear spokes and rear wheel in the event that your chain jumps off the largest gear cogs and gets jammed between the spokes and the wheel. I've had this happen to me many years ago, so sit on the side of riders who say that they do want these on.The largest cog on your cassette must be less than 13cm diameter."Easy to install" is not quite true - yes, it's simple enough to actually put on the disc, but you have to remove the cogset and rear wheel first which (in my case) needed special tools and patience.Overall, this does what it's meant to do - time will tell if the plastic yellows in time or gets cloudy/scratched.

These are quite large and heavy. They will protect the wheel from oil . The only issue i have is that you seem to have to remove the FW to get these on!
