This rack is super sturdy and looks nice. I like the extra kick-out that keeps the panniers out of the wheel. I bought this at a local bike shop, and mounted it myself at the bike shop in about 5 minutes using my multi-tool. I put my Ortlieb panniers on in a few seconds. I have my Planet Bike Blinky strapped around on of the support bars, but I have ordered the rack mount from Planet Bike so I can properly mount my Blinky to the rackI noticed one reviewer said it doesn't come with mounting hardware - well it's supposed to! I initially bought this from Amazon because, as a prime member, I liked the idea of having it shipped to my house. However, it didn't come with mounting hardware, so I returned it - Amazon was GREAT and sent me a free return label and refunded my payment immediately. Then I went to my LBS and bought it in person and the package contained the four screws needed to mount it.I haven't done any touring with this yet, so I'll update when I have...

Sturdy, well built and great quality rack that includes fixing screws is an ideal way to transport panniers and save your back through using a rucksack. Simple to fit, strong enough to carry the largest of panniers and clever enough to protect your back from spray in the rain, what more could you want from a rack!!

I ordered the Axiom Journey Rack because it was moderately priced and strong according to other reviewers. I ride a women specific hybrid bike (Trek 7.2 FX WSD). I'm used to having some issues fitting bike accessories to my frame, so I wasn't too surprised when I had issues with this. When I received this rack, I was impressed with its appearance. The black finish is attractive, not too shiny. I was glad to find it came with all the hardware necessary for installation. When I installed the rack, I found that I could not install it completely level or it would brush my rear tire. I had to accept its being at a slight downward angle. So far I haven't had issues with anything sliding off the back of my bike, but this angle is not ideal.I have ridden with the rack for the last two weeks, about 80 to 100 miles total so far. For about a third of this I have had a 15- 20 lb backpack bungied to the rack. For the rest, the rack has been empty. My commute includes some bumpy paths, so this rack has received some good jarring. With the exception of the first day (which I'll discuss below), this rack has stayed solidly on my bike. The screws have not loosened, and it has easily handled the loaded backpack. As I've only had this for a couple weeks, I can't make a definitive judgment on the quality. From what I've experienced so far, this rack is at a fair price point and gets the job done. I will update this review if any issues arise as I continue to use this rack.Note: When installing the rack, take care to properly fasten the stays. Not only do the ends connecting to the seat tube need to be tight, but the ends secured just under the base of the rack must be tight as well. (by the red bolts, tighten these). They may appear to be tight already, but they need to really be snug. I forgot to do this and the first time I hit a bump, the rack slipped backwards away from the stays and nearly hit the ground. I properly reinstalled it, and I have had no trouble since.

Great rack, comes with all the necessary screws and bolts (you will need your own alan key). Fits my 700c hybrid very well and when fitted it feels extremely sturdy, almost as if it was made with the bike. Handles some pretty heavy loads and the thick frame allows for tight grips for panniers. Also you won't need a rear mudguard with this installed.

I am currently in college and was looking for a good rack to attach to my Trex Alpha 1.5. After reading countless reviews and being on a college budget, I found this rack. What other reviews have said:One of the things that caught my eyes was the weight limit. With the other racks in my price range, this one has almost triple the carrying capacity of any of the others. After reading about that I found a review that said it was made from aluminum and not steel. This was how they were able to sell a rack that is rated to hold that much and not be so expensive. I also read some reviews that talked about the welds cracking or breaking, that this was due to the old design and since then they have added more welds to help this problem. One article said this was because of again the types of metals used. They stated that the steel is able to bend and flex more while the aluminum tends to be more ridged. They recommend, and I agree, that if you are going to use this for on road use that it will hold up just fine, but if you plan on using this for off road use it would be recommend to go with a steel design. I have also read many reviews that have claimed that after months (sometimes more then a year) of use and the rack broke a weld that they were able to take them to a dealer to have them replaced not questions asked. I am hoping that the new design mentioned above has corrected this problem but it is nice to know that I have that as a fall backWith that out the way lets talk about build quality and design. First of all I am knew to the world of road bikes and skinny tires (i prefer dirt and fat tires when not commuting), so please take that into consideration with my review.Build/Design QualityThe rack seems to have a pretty solid build. When they say universal they mean it .The racks has two bars that extend forwards to mount on the frame bellow the seat. These are both on pivot points so they can be redirect to fit almost any frame and any direction. On the back of the rack, they have mounted a little piece of sheet metal to attach lights or reflectors to. I love this feature because it allows me to mount my rear light above my rear wheel and will also help later when I add panniers to the rack by still keeping the light visiable. The rack also comes also with 4 screws just incase your bike does not have them.I would definitely recommend this rack to anyone on a budget looking for a great quality rack for the price!
