  • Kiln pine tar

Kiln burned Pine Tar 773, also known as peasant made tar, is produced by the old fashioned method of burning pine tree stumps in kilns. Kiln Burned Pine Tar is a pure, natural product with a golden color, low content of pitch, high resin content and high purity. The high resin content may cause precipitation of crystals which will dissolve when heated to 45-50°C. As the tar is manually produced, the viscosity and smell will vary somewhat from batch to batch. I bought this to make soap and salve. The smell is so mild and smokey, not even a hint of the weird rubber/concrete mystery odor of cheaper brands. The odor alone had me sold as soon as i opened the can, but the product was wonderful quality all the way around and easy to work with.

Made this soap recently and the smell wasn't as bad as I thought. The soap turned out black which surprised me because the description said the pine tar is "blonde". Maybe it was the aloe vera gel I used as water. My soap is now curing and the smell is barely there. Great Product!!

This pine tar smells smokey. It has just a hint of a tar smell. It made a beautiful smoke scented pine tar soap. This pine tire is worth the cost.

Good product, pours nicely and does not have the rubbery smell of other pine tars sold at feed stores, but it does smell very smoky, like sitting by the campfire downwind for hours kind of smoky. I don't dislike it just wish it was less pungent for making salves, will try soap making next.

This is truly amazing pine tar. The pine tars sold in hardware and farm stores (tractor supply) may cost less, but the smell is horrible. The smell of them is often somewhere between burnt rubber and asphalt. Not a hint of pine, and they all are thick, with a consistency like that of lard that has been stored in the fridge. The Auson Kiln Burned pine tar smells like a campfire that someone is burning pine logs in. The overwhelming scent is that of pine, with a hint of smokiness to it. It is also thinner than the store bought ones, with a consistency of maple syrup. You can pour it right out of the can. I use it for making soaps as well as coating wood that will be outside. If you're making soap, this is the only one to get.

Bought this can specifically for my Pine Tat Soap and love it. It is not cheap, but the aroma is amazing! I once bought a pine tar soap from eBay, made of cheap pine tar and the smell was terrible, my allergy spiked. This can will last me years (first one lasted for three years, and I made soap for myself and for my friends). Since I started using my own pine tar soap, I forgot about the eczema or dry skin. I wash my whole body (including hair) and am loving it!

I use it for wood handles, mixed with turpentine and linseed oil. Worth it just for the smell of this tar on the handles and your hands.

I was looking for the purest form of pine tar I could find to make some ship soup. I've fallen in love with this stuff. Aside from working well for what I bought it for, I love how my hands smell after working with it. I will be buying more.
