I have been doing live sound since the eighties and have tried all the usual vocal mics. A typical gig for me is one like I did a few weeks ago where I did sound for a stage for four days at a music festival. I had to deal with dozens of acts, men, woman, loud, soft, eat the mic, back off the mic, this works for everyone. A lot of people love the SM58/Beta 58 and they are easy to work with but I find them harsh on some people, this mic works for everyone. The price is reasonable for what it is and it is highly feedback resistant.

I'm an acoustically fastidious person and I've tried a lot of other famous microphones. But I stopped with Audix, it showed me the difference and the most authentic sound I've ever heard!

Love this mic! It has a full range and definitely cuts down on feedback on stage. The clarity of this mic makes a huge difference. I’m very happy with the quality of my audix om5

Good mic, crisp clear sound, very little proximity low end effect. I find with my vocals atleast, the eq on the mixer is much more flat than compared to a sm58( I always boost high end and roll off mids and lows with one). Was hoping the tight pickup pattern would help a little more with small room rehearsals, but Its not a magic wand that can change room acoustics. That being said, still more gain before feedback than a shure sm58.

I had been switching back and forth between my older Shure SM58 and Samson Q7 when I started playing with another band using a Bose L series PA. My other friend/singer was using the OM5 while the guitarist and keyboardist were sporting a OM3 and OM2. I bought the OM5 and while it did take awhile to get the supercardoid pattern down, once I did there's no denying how there is definitely nothing getting through this mic that isn't dead on center and perpendicular. Especially with a Bose you can get feedback from hot mics. I didn't get any with the OM5 just of center of the L1 tower. Once you get up on it and in it this thing shreds with the vocal output! I now use the other two on the hosted jam nights - for the guests!

I LOVE AUDIX mics (and love that they are made here in the USA). I 've had the OM2, then the OM3 ( which is light years better than the OM2) and decided to give the OM5 a go. Been using it over the last 3 months on my gigs. I love it !I I have an alto-soprano range and sing rock/blues/R&B. Vocals are VERY CLEAN and crisp with this mic (don't sing sloppy with this - audience will hear it). This has a tight polar pattern (like all the Audix mics) so won't get much/any feedback from monitors that are close/in front. I like to sing right on top on the mic -- which you can do with this mic without distortion.Highly recommend this vs. OM2/OM3 (which are good basic mics). Some tips: Don't be rough when removing mic cord connection from the bottom of these mics -- could result in wires/pcb board from mic coming w/your cord. Just be aware there is NO on/off switch on these if that's a feature you like.

I bough 4 of these, great sound, great feedback control but I wish I spent the extra money and got OM-7s

Simply the best all purpose vocal mic available at this price level , great clarity and the highest gain before feedback of any mic I've ever used . Great alternative to all the usual suspects from the other main players SM 58 etc. works great on all vocalists is equally good on male and female voices .. no nasty surprises .. I run them with flat eq ... and can find no weaknesses and they have a great 'feel in the hand . It's not often you can say that about any mic . Looking for a vocal / general purpose mic ... look no further ... these are great .

Just got this mike 3 days ago. This mike is made very good. As far as sound goes, I'll stick with my EV N/D767a. The sound is not as great as my Shure 58. Maybe just a tee little bit cleaner, but not much. But then again to each his own. Some may like the sound of it. After using my EV for about 2 years no mike sounds as good too me. But that's just me. The Audix sounds muddy. I've worked with the highs, brought down the lows, mids, still the same. Very disappointed after reading such good reviews. I plan on using it as a back up, just in case something goes wrong with my EV. Don't go by this review it may be the right mike for you, it's just not for me. Thanks Amazon for your fast service.

This mic just blew me away. This mic poduces a clear and powerfull sound without much stress to the singer and any sound enhancement. An amateur sound engineer (louds of gear but lacks the knowledge) had problems with getting it right because he's used to cheap and old mics. He really could not handle this sound quality. Believe it or not you can screw up good sound easier than fixing a bad one. A studio engineer offered me money when he heard what this mic did. That and it's live performance is proof to me that this is an awsome mic.
