The installation is fairly simple, but I found the item a bit flimsy when put together. Once all the wall, I added a few small "L" brackets to make it super strong on the top, middle and bottom. All in all, it was a good buy. Looks great on the wall.I noticed when I unpackaged the box, there were a great deal of Styrofoam flakes. I chose to vacuum each piece as I unpackaged and before starting the assembly, otherwise the flakes would have gone everywhere in the house.

Many DVD organizers are pricey, and this one was decently priced and works great. I may have to buy another, and I will buy this one again.EASY TO ASSEMBLEIt's a little tedious, but no different than anything like it. I was able to assemble by myself with no incident. I would recommend an electric cordless screwdriver. It gets the job done much quicker.STURDINESSAnything that is made of particle boards is weak, but for what this does, it's study enough. Simply do not put anything heavy on or against it. Treat it gently, and you shouldn't have a problem.VALUE FOR MONEYAll media storage is significantly more expensive than bookshelves, but this cabinet is relatively low compared to most. It works just fine for all my DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4Ks.

This shelf is perfect for my game collection. It's got plenty of shelves and adjustable configurations to make everything look really nice. I'm very happy to have everything in one place and displayed well.Beware of cheap parts. I've put a lot of furniture together over the years often much more complex than this piece and haven't had as many issues with any one piece as I did this one. It's easy to put together on paper and almost simple enough to ignore the instructions but all of the locking mechanisms failed to lock in place correctly. At first I thought I was doing something wrong, double checking the instructions, but I've used these types before and they aren't supposed to be this difficult. They are poorly constructed and don't function as intended. The holes to line up the backing boards were not all the way through and could only be seen from the wrong side forcing guess work when nailing them in. Due to the failed locking pieces and the guess work with the nail holes I wasn't able to fit everything together as intended creating a small gap in the connecting boards leaving an imperfect finished build. This isn't a piece I'd put in my front room for those reasons.Overall for the price and function it's a decent solution for a large collection and a perfect example of "you get what you pay for".

After decades of assembling these types of units, I had to, for the first time, throw part of it away. And I should have known there would be a problem when the box arrived with both ends hanging open...the gluing had failed. The bottom half went together with no problem and so far seems sturdy. The problems started when it was time to attach the horizontal piece that is the top of the bottom part, and the bottom of the top part. The piece needed to be attached with supplied wood screws to the bottom vertical slats. There were no drilled holes to indicate where the screws should go, that would line up with the drilled holes provided in the vertical slats. So I measured and measured and had to drill holes in the horizontal piece, since the provided screws would just not go in through the top. All eight screws went in perfectly to the vertical slats, and as I said, the bottom unit seems steady. On the top part of the horizontal piece go the cam screws and wood dowels. The cams are supposed to lock together with the round cam locks that go into the top vertical slats. Except they would not lock. With the wood screws in the horizontal piece, the top vertical slats would not sit flush on top of the horizontal piece. They might have if the horizontal piece had the holes drilled in properly from the factory like they were supposed to. So I drilled out the tops of the wood screws so they were flush with the horizontal piece. No good. Cams would not lock. I tried unscrewing the Cam screws a tiny bit to give them some height. No good. I went back and forth readjusting for about an hour when it finally seemed that they all locked. And they were all locked...until I tried laying the unit down flat to attache the backing to the top part and it all came apart with one of the top vertical slats splitting. All of the top pieces went right to the dumpster, and now I have a half shelving unit. Never again this brand. I had previously bought the below one, and it went together perfectly, solidly, with no wood screws holding top to bottom:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KW0BBU/?coliid=I276Q4L08ICR2L&colid=OOJ60JDVQAX1&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_itLive and learn.

Very difficult to put together and it chipped and cracked during assembly to the point that I gave up after page 3 of instructions and took it to the curb for garbage day because of the cracks and chips from assembly, it simply looked like trash. Absolute waste of money and an even bigger waste of my time trying to assemble this flimsy item. The weight of this unit is ridiculous since it is meant to house CD's and DVD's which are feather light; because it was so heavy and the parts to hold it together were cheap construction it cracked all over during assembly. Unfortunately I didn't have the option to give ZERO stars, I was forced to give 1 star. What a waste of money!

Firstly, I own this product and find it wonderful. It is one of the only storage solutions I've found that can hold the kinds of games that I own, and have such a large capacity/ability to change what kind of games and sizes it can hold. That being said, the construction of these is somewhat problematic... At one point they want you install the backing board (which is vital for the stability and straightness/square-build) of the product, with the lower lip jutting out, which places a lot of stress of the joints in the middle that join the bottom and top halves. What I've found that works is to install the bottom plate, and stand the unit upright. Have someone hold the unit in place while you nail/hammer in the little nails into the backing board into the back of the shelving unit. It has worked great for me.Secondly, absolutely mount these into the wall, into a stud, into anything. Freestanding they aren't bad... but I can't imagine installing these on any kind of carpet without having them anchored to something. If you apply the back correctly and if you stabilize the unit to the wall (and maybe even reinforce it in a few places?), these are fantastic for the price.Oh, also... there is a lot of Styrofoam in the box, some of which is very thin and breaks apart into an infinite supply of little styrofoam boogers that I continue to find a year after I built these lol
