Just received it. Out of the box there was a metric mandrel in it. The smaller nut is so tight I could not get it off and all my river nuts are SAE so I can’t even test it. I’ll have access to a vise tomorrow but I’m not looking forward to messing up a brand new tool that I haven’t even tested.

Works great but something you have to get a feel for. It’s pretty easy to over torque the rivnuts causing the threaded portion to be off center. I had to drill a few out and start again. If you don’t get them torqued enough, they spin on you and it can be a pain to get the bolts out.

This is really strong and tighten down fast. Be careful and go slowly or do as they say and use your clutch. I used a MW 2904 on beast mode to set my nuts and quite a few of the threads got messed up in the process, especially on the stainless steel rivets. I had to pull out my tap & die set to fix the gnawed up threads at least twice setting 8 rivet nuts, using 10 since there's 2 I had to drill out because they were beyond recovering. Also make sure you're level and plumb or you'll run into the same issues. I would recommend you use this with a hand ratchet until you get the hang of it and figure out what a properly set rivet looks like, it is easy to over do it.

It is impossible to hold it. I tried multiple different gloves, but nothing would grip it. It should have been designed with a hex outside so you could use a wrench or something to help hold it.I was barely able to get the first rivnut set and then the tool broke while I was trying to set the second one.

First rivet and the drive shaft broke. Not impressed at all. Contacted customer service and they are sending me the part that failed. So far customer service has been great. I hope it performs better after I change the part.

We have numerous Equipment Issues at my workplace that the ADN38XL has proven to be the only tool that has offered a solution to he problem. This product will be able to crimp steel Rivenuts with ease. I have been experimenting with cordless Drill Drivers. I have been using 304 Stainless Steel inserts and find this device well designed and manufactured. After using the product I find that the value is much higher than the established price point based upon my experience with the product. I have already introduced this to my fellow maintenance team members and it has been embraced 100% as a Wow, where did you get that? I plan on purchasing more in the near future

Really outstanding tool. I used it to install some #10-24 stainless rivet nuts and it performed beautifully. You do need a fairly powerful drill, however. An impact / hammer drill really works best. Definitely adhere to the directions included with the tool and use grease on all the threads. Also, be sure to use gloves which allow you to grip and hold the tool firmly, as it's easy for it to spin out of your hand if you're not careful. The tool is very well made and speak of quality from start to finish. Nice job Astro! A+

Super-nice! I used it to install 14 3/8-16 rivnuts into the frame of my Rubicon to mount LoD rock sliders last night. The LoD slider's instructions ask that you drill holes in the frame and tap threads for the mounting bolts. I did it that way on my last Jeep and that's a weak setup, as there will only be a couple of threads on the thin frame and you can't torque down the 7/16's bolts without stripping them. This time around I used 40 fl-lbs of torque on each bolt in the nutsert. Also, there are a few locations where my hand-held nut setter would not have the clearance to work the handles. With this tool I could do all the mounting positions. It's a nice, well-machined, functional tool that I would recommend to anyone with a need to set nutserts.
