I had an outdoor faucet which was leaking so one of the things I tried to stop the leak was to replace the stem. This fit exactly right and while it ended up not stopping the leak the part was exactly what I ordered and did what it said it would.

Never assume what version of the stem you have. Always take the existing one out and measure all of the dimensions. I'd replaced one a few years ago and was going to assume that the one that was now leaking would have been the same; but they were different lengths and different models. Yes, it was a pain to take the bad one out only to put it back until the new stem showed up, but the new one was an exact fit for the old one. The stems do NOT ship with a handle. Do NOT assume the old handle or screw will fit the new stem. I needed a different screw with the new stem, though the old handle fit fine.

As was stated in many previous reviews it does not fit an older series 480 hydrant as sold. In my case, as in others, I had to do considerable grinding of the corners on the square brass end to make it fit in the hydrant. Once that was done it fit fine and worked perfectly and solved my leaky hydrant before winter. This was a much better option for me than changing the hydrant because a previous remodel in my home had built a wall around the hydrant in the house.

When I hold this 8" adapter up to my existing 8" stem,this replacement is about 10.25" for the copper rod to threads.And just shy of 12" total length.So there's nothing about this that replaces the 8" stem I have.

The part did not fit. Where it screwed into the faucet,the Dia was smaller than the original. When I ordered it there was no information about the thread Dia. I assumed it would be the same. It was the right length but the end plate that holds the seal rubber washer was to big to fit into the faucet. No enough information to order the right part.
