I got this to build an equatorial telescope mount. It is a plastic such as nylon or HDPE. It was soft enough that my dog could dent it with his teeth. The plastic will not hold to a glue or epoxy (a characteristic of these plastics). The fact that it is plastic is not mentioned. Most of these gears for RC's are metal.

They can strip kinda easy if you're bashing but thankfully they're cheap.
