Though I was getting a good product since BRS did a review on it. It arrived Friday. Hooked it up. Leak tested it. Plugged in bulb to make sure it was working. Sadly it was not. Emailed them same day. No response. I don’t recommend.

Performing a good job as a UV device but so loud with the nonstop running water. The last thing I want with my aquarium is water splashing especially while I’m trying to rest at night. A waterfall effect can be relaxing but not in this case

I installed this on a 90 Gallon tank to address an algae bloom problem. Cleared the water up in a couple days. I've got it hanging on the bank of the tank and not in a sump which is the ideal set-up. I had to take out a notch in the plastic rim of the tank so that it would fit. I'm running it off a power head on the other end of the tank. Aside from having to get a fitting for the power head to fit the tube it was pretty easy to set-up. The other nice feature is that when the unit is on there is a faint blue glow at the bottom of the tube that lets you know it's on. Super Happy with this purchase. Effectiveness of UV Sterilization is all about wattage and how long the water is exposed to it in the tube. I did a fair amount of research and this is a good balance of wattage, length of the tube and dwell time. It bridges the gap between the $30 -$40 that have little effectiveness and the $300 - $400 units that the Professionals use.

After experiencing my first ever algal bloom, I was at a loss for what to do. After many water changes, some hand wringing, and teeth gnashing, I did an internet search and realized I needed a UV sterilizer. I have a 30 gallon tall freshwater tank with a Fluval 205 external filter. Slightly too many fish, but they are little! Anyway, I purchased the Aqua Ultraviolet 15 watt hanger model. My purchase was based on internet searches and Amazon reviews. I had to make a slight modification to the connection as the inlet was a little smaller than the Fluval tubing. Luckily, I had some Tygon tubing, Ty-wraps, and Teflon tape on hand. After a gravel vacuuming and 75% water change, I installed the Aqua UV Sterilizer on the outlet of the Fluval. Within 24 hours there was a noticeable difference in water clarity. After 48 hours the water is almost crystal clear! It was so green before. So green, that I was too embarrassed to take a picture. I was worried that the Fish Police would find me and arrest me.I highly recommend this sterilizer! Very easy to install and IT WORKS! Make sure you have the necessary connections before you start. I had everything I needed on hand. The Fluval tubing is 5/8" id and the Sterilizer inlet was too small for the Fluval tubing connector. The Tygon is 5/8" od and 7/8" id and fit inside the Fluval connector and on to the Sterilizer inlet perfectly! I used Teflon tape on the Fluval tubing and Tygon connections, and I used Ty-wraps snugged on for holding power as I didn't have the right size hose clamps. So far no leaks, and it's working great. The pictures are of the set up. The aquarium at the start (the water is cloudy after a 75% change out!). 24 hours, and 48 hours later.

This side mounted version unit has opening that can fit eheim tubing (tight fit), and just need a crimp on it.This is the best UV to use and great for fishtank to have water extreme clarity as if polished, while also being strong enough to kill parasites, so no more fish illnesses due to the high wattage bulb used. Most all other UV dont use such high wattage bulbs, which is the key for killing pathogens and parasites besides the usual algae. This is very huge benifit so you won't loose any fish due to any sicknesses from new fish or livefood.I never use any live or even frozen.I only use crisp-flakes and freeze dried. But whatever works for you.No more algae and no need of fish that live off it, like algae eaters and plecos, which have a tendency to suck fish or eat eggs.Still, the only downside is that it fools you to believe the water is so clear it is excellent condition, and so you may forget to do your water changes...You must do scheduled water changes regardless, even if you have planted tanks, as most tank's filters and plants are usually not enough to remove amonia (from fish piss) from the water.

I have a 125G freshwater tank and though not having an algae problem the tank just didn't have that really clear look to it. When I fired this up running off an Eheim canister filter things changed quickly. My tank water appears sparkling clean for months now and this definitely was the reason. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone and not only do you get awesome clarity but you also get harmful bacteria gone. I wanted to just do a little update as I was looking for a replacement bulb as mine is now almost two years old and I know they need to be replaced annually so since I busted down the mega tank figured it was a good time to replace the bulb. As I said in the headline I have had it four years and works flawlessly. I never had a diseased fish since I bought this but who knows if the light was responsible for that or not but it certainly can't hurt. If it blows up I'll buy another one which is probably the best testimony of all.
