I love my 1992 Accord, but when the heater core started leaking, and the windows consequently fogged up super bad, we had to take the whole dashboard out to replace it.When we got in there, we discovered that the Evaporator Core was really dirty and clogged up with 30 years of crap! We didn't know why the vents didn't blow very hard all these years until we saw that dirty evaporator! That's because the air flowing into the cabin first blows through the evaporator core, then across the heater core, so the airflow for both the A/C and heat were severely compromised. These cars didn't come with cabin air filters, so any random stuff that gets sucked in will hit the evaporator core. I guess it's not surprising that after 30 years, that took a toll.We tried to clean it, but it was just too far gone. Since most of the installation work is taking the dash board out and putting it back in, we decided to replace the evaporator at the same time we replaced the heater core. Now both are clean and new, and the air flow is restored!I haven't tried it out through a hot summer yet, but just the improved airflow means the a/c is going to be much colder and my cabin will be much more comfortable this summer!
