This set of 48 prepared microscope slides is great for kids and young students. The slides are manufactured with safety in mind, made from durable plastic and no sharp edges making them safe to handle. It is the ideal product for educational purposes, entry-level students and home school programs.
The set is color-coded and includes specimens that are specific to Entomology, Botany, and Mammology.
Red-colored slides include the following specimens: Butterfly Wing, Butterfly Antenna, Butterfly Leg, Locust Wing, Locust Antenna, Locust Leg, Dragonfly Wing, Dragonfly Abdomen, Dragonfly Leg, Honeybee Wing, Honeybee Antenna and Honeybee Leg.
Green-colored slides include the following specimens: Celery Leaf, Corn Stem, Lotus Root, Cabbage Leaf, Pumpkin Ovary, Ginger Root, Onion Epidermis, Burdock Root, Carrot Root, Cucumber Ovary, Sponge Gourd Stem, and Potato Starch.
Yellow-colored slides include the following specimens: Dandelion Fuzz, Carnation Stem, Tulip Pollen, Laver, Lily Pollen, Camellia Pollen, Sunflower Pollen, Bamboo Cane, Phlox Leaf, Pine Tree Stem, Veins of Holly Leaf, and Agar.
Blue-colored slides include the following specimens: Goldfish Scale, Sardine Scale, Plankton Egg, Canary Feather, Rabbit Hair, Cat Hair, Horse Hair, Cow Hair, Sheep Hair, Fowl Feather, Duck Feather, and Pigeon Feather.

My kids have had a lot of fun with these. We used them for our homeschool science. We go to a class every Tuesday, with other homeschool children, where my eldest daughter is required to have a presentation every week. These have been useful for her presentations and the other children have enjoyed them as well.

This was worth every penny. I surprised my son and got him a microscope and got him these slides to go with it. We both had so much fun looking at the slides. The slides were easy to see and so much fun to look at.

The slides are filled with air bubbles making it impossible to see anything mounted on the slide. I contacted their customer service department and the reply I received was 'purchase our glass slides instead'.No dyes of any type were used in mounting the specimens either so the 6 slides that were able to be slightly viewed had no detail whatsoever. It was no better than looking at a specimen under a magnifying glass.DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME!!

I didn't even think to read what these were made of when I purchased, if the description even says. I got them as an addition to a microscope we got our granddaughter for Christmas. I was thrilled to realize they are plastic whe. I opened them. It is too soon to know exactly how durable they will be, however, I don't forsee any issues at this point. It is a great mix of slides, which was exciting for her.

These are a great family activity! I like how they are categorized and color coded! It would be great if they came with an informative description with each, like cards, of what we were looking for or at. Kids love these but all we can say is "Oooo" or "weird". I'm not a science teacher, just a mother and despite what I tell the kids, I really don't know it all! Ha! Great product! I definitely recommend!

Perfect starter slides. My son (5) loves these slides mostly because he can actually handle them and I'm not worried about him hurting himself with glass ones. The items are just large enough that you can show the kiddos what the item is without magnification and then show the difference with magnification. Great learning tool!

I ordered this set and only got two different types of slides. Not the 4 pictured. Since then, I've had contact from the seller who offered to fulfill my order and send the other two types of slides. So I'm updating my review to reflect my satisfaction with the seller. As far as I can see, the slides are good quality, and I look forward to watching my grandsons enjoy them with their new microscope.
