In shopping for choke tube cases, I learned it is possible to spend ridiculously little money for something that looks like it will fill the bill. I also learned it is possible to spend just a little bit more money for one that is exponentially better designed and constructed--and of far better materials. That's the short lesson about this Bob Allen case.Unlike, say, the MTM offerings (at about 5+ bucks), the Allen (at about 8+ bucks) is made of thick polycarbonate and has quadruple hinges and a sturdy latch. It is ruggedly simple; each of your choke tubes lies on a thin layer of foam rubber in a little corral that prevents it from rolling about and its delicate bore edge and threads banging about against those of its companions. I'm using this case to hold 28-gauge Browning Invector Midas tubes, and it works perfectly. My tubes cost about $50 each, so I see this case as a very worthwhile investment in keeping them from getting banged up.I will use this case inside a hardshell Browning case that holds my 525 O/U. The exterior dimensions of the Allen tube case are small, so there are two or three compartments in the O/U case that will hold it easily.I supposed this case would also work in the field, but you would need to allocate some dedicated space in your bird vest to hold it; it's very much a hardshell plastic, and I suspect it might crack if sat upon. There are probably better options for carrying tubes afield. But for protecting your tubes inside your case to the range and back, this Allen case is well worth its price.

For the price, they will suffice well I think. I can't really comment too much on durability or sturdiness until they get some use. The foam is rather thin and the plastic feels a little hard and thin, like it will break if compressed to much. However, I was just looking for something that will contain all my chokes in one place along with a wrench; I don't plan on needing then for any kind of hard use.

The pouch itself impressed me. A very reliable belt, high capacity hull bag, and the ability to fit 2 boxes of shells. Only downside were the elastic straps on the side to hold spare shells. 3 out of the 4 were too lose and they kept falling out
