glorified door mat, not as thick as i had expected for over $50....i think glueing 2 of these together would be great, at least i wouldn`t have to pay 1/2 the price of the kayak for a drop stitch floor...sad

We use the backbone for the tandem kayak. I think this is a necessary add-on. It insulates you, definitely protects the floor in the kayak, and keeps the back bone from hurting your bottom while paddling (if you use one).

Very durable. Adds extra support for the floor. Love it! Rolls up easily too. Would be nice if it came with a carry bag...

I installed this over a drop stitch floor. Works perfectly. And adds a bit of rigidity. Only thing is if you have the drop stitch floor, you’ll need to cut a hole in the durafloor for the drop stitch inflation valve. This is easily done by laying out our deflated drop stitch floor the center the durafloor over it. Apply slight pressure down on the inflation valve and it will leave an indent on the back of the dura floor you can use as the guide to cut the hole with and hobby knife. I love the added protection I thin this should come standard and permanently bonded to the drop stitch floor.

Slightly too long and wide, the installation is a bit too hard.

Since I take my dog kayaking with me I had to buy one of the two possible floor upgrades and I chose this one first since it's significantly cheaper. The first time I set it all up it took forever and I hated the durafloor, it seemed too hard to center in the kayak. Since then I've gotten better at setting it up, and with use the durafloor has become more flexible and easier to handle. I keep it rolled up with bungie cords and it isn't small, but nothing about this kayak set up is. My 60-lb dog jumps into the boat from the dock and the floor holds up just fine. Easy to clean with a hose.

We got this floor instead of the drop stitch. I happen to like the DS floor in my AE kayak better than this floor. It's made of a hard spongy material. Think of a flip flop... that material.... It's definitely better than just using the stock floor, but it's not as rigid as the drop stitch floor. Because of the way it's shaped, it's kind of a pain to put in and take out. If you aren't careful, it will rip. That's what happened with ours. The floor tore as we pulled on it. Now it's patched up with some duct tape. Also, if you plan on using a bilge pump, you will have to think of a way to squeeze it between the air chambers and the floors. VERY tight fit... I'm giving it 5 starts cuz the better half absolutely loves it on his kayak, despite the flaws I mentioned. He only wishes it wasn't so easy to rip.
