The ceramic coating acts as a heat mirror; reflecting infrared energy and heat away from the plug boot; and it's engineered to resist flaking and peeling. 8mm Ferro-Spiral core double-silicone wires deliver maximum energy to the spark plugs with built-in RFI/EMI suppression for street-driven vehicles. Good quality, and the right type for HEI ignition. I’ve always had problems with rubber boot spark plug lasting very long being so close to the headers. These are great! My headers already had a spot dented in to make room for a boot in one spot, I did have to dent that in just a hair more to get it to fit.

Solved a long time misfire problem because all other boots burn through and caused an arc against the headers after a few miles.

Great item to have in your car if you have headers on it. Problem was getting a set that was not broken at the tip. Three times is a charmer with Amazon, that is how many times it had to be delivery, then I ordered a set for a friend and the same again, returned and gave up.

I have probably the most common headers: SBC shorty headers, might be called "block huggers" in a 40' Ford. The ceramic spark plug boots don't even come close to fitting between the spark plug and the header. It's the old story if it fits you probably didn't need it anyway? The Accel site states NO RETURNS! Wonder why?Thank goodness Amazon accepts them back!

The ceramic boot on these wires is a great idea! If you have a car that has an issue with header clearances then this is the wire for you. I went through several sets of ignition wires before finding these. Some of the boots are only 1/4" away from the header tubes and are standing up to the heat without cracking. There were a couple things I didn`t like about these wires, one was the fact that the boot at the distributor was 90 degrees where I would`ve prefered a straight boot. The supplied crimping tool was also nearly impossible to use. Those shortcomings aside, the wires do what they were designed to do well.
