Amazon offers a great service here because Medical Supply stores always cannot provide big-people with big swelled legs the right sizes ands their prices are at least 3 times as great for a maximum of XL if even that is possible - so forget them please, my experience now for over 30 years and like the medical devices world (CPAP in particular) dealing with the "official pipeline" is a real joke - unless the provider or the VA actually provides the equipment - but again - you are really left out on your own when it comes to Compression Socks and that requires some personal analysis with the various brands to deal with size, comfort and all the intricoes of your feet and the unique problems they offer - which of course changes from time to time and hopefully provides periods of better rest and safer more stable mobility. My actual swell size was a 3X but ballooned after a fall & follow-on VATS surgery with heart failure activities to a 5X and then complications with big-toe ingrown nail pain and over-all foot pain. Now exercise for me is in our remarkable pool system which is essential but as you are tossed around the hospital system everybody wants to cut and paste a procedure that puts you on your back for weeks and of course if you are over 70 going on 90 that is a no-exercise death sentence as the medical team celebrates success of a nail cut-back etc. So I used a series of Plus Size Compression Socks from 3X to 5X plus over the counter ointments and creams to keep the legs, feet and toes as comfortable as possible and wider shoes that can be used around the house, anyplace outside and in the pools (drying in the sun) and found that sleeping with these comfortable shoes ON with the compression socks plus another white sports socks from a XL Socks provider (giant5 15+ sizes) the whole build-up is comfortable, snug, keeps me warm (I keep my mancave cold to support breathing) and I even sleep with the shoes on often because the painful feet and toes are nicely protected in the comfy-shoes with large custom heating pads making my sleep quite remarkable and cozy with wife and dog :) The necessity to have open-toe comes often but it is a real custom fit job to make sure the place where the opening starts (as you pull them on) doesn't make walking difficult in the shoe with a bump that interferes with the arch. So at times a full-sock is great, when toes hurt and toe-nail work (no cutting) is done the cut-back helps. Once a real comfy-fit is accomplished I leave the compression sock + outer sock on for a two day stint prior to the next pool workout sleeping on and off 24/7 on a full cycle of meds, nourishment, bathroom visits, exercise in mancave and using stairs, then pool (walk / water volleyball) 3 times a week if not in hospitals etc... The degree of swelling and the strength I have to put them on (use a rug section for friction always and a strong chair to make sure you can move safely - I have no help). Nail reduction is with sand-paper boards or great sticks also provided by AMAZON, long ones to help reach and the painful toe-nails can carefully be cut back slowly, cutting is dangerous and impossible alone even with the tools available - you always cut the toe and then bleeding persists so always have first aid sprays and wraps especially if by yourself. Build a grouping of compression socks and larger sizes are easier to put on, double sock layers with XL sport socks increases the compression if you are just not strong enough (layer up works for me), use open toes when necessary and at times pull the open area right back to the ankle is necessary for shoe comfort. Good luck - live as best you can.

Not only do I have the need for Compression Stockings but, I have a wide calf. I was so glad when I found the Plus Size compression socks without the toe in a variety of sizes. You know how a leg can change from stress and weather, so I have two different sizes and several pair of each for versatility and to change off regularly. They are so reasonable in price and the material is soft yet strong and flexible. I'm only sorry that I didn't start to use them earlier in my life. Well, live and learn. Good product, good price. Check out the page and see if they fit your needs. Have a great day and better supported legs. Mrs. Paul M.

I'm a big gal with edema in my calves, ankles, and feet. And needed some plus size compression socks. Never bought any before but decided to try these. I'm so glad I read the reviews talking about ordering a size down from what you think you'd get. One of my calves is 19 inches around and I was going to get the 3x to 4x, but got the Xlarge to XXlarge instead. They fit perfectly, feel so good on my legs, don't pinch at all, the top doesn't roll down, which I was worried about. And I love that my toes are free, so I still get somewhat of a bare foot feeling. I also learned the best way to put it on, grab the bottom end with your fingers, and turn the sock inside out by pulling it up your arm most of the way until the toe section forms like a little pocket. Then let go and carefully pull off your arm. Then insert your toes into the pocket and you can pull the sock up your leg which will turn it right side out again. It's a lot easier then just sticking your foot in and trying to pull it up that way.

I bought both the 3x and the 5x to see which fit best. Both did what they were supposed to do. For the 1st time in years my ankles and feet had zero swelling and no pain. The 3x seemed to be the right length at 1st, but almost instantly bunched up at the ankles. There was no way to remove the wrinkles, because the socks were too long. This is no issue when your socks are not visible, but there will almost always be some time when they can be seen. The open toe section hit my foot just right, so the foot length works great for a women's size 9. The 5X is ridiculously long. The open toe section covered all my toes and was extremely loose. The ankle wrinkling was even worse. Because the toe section was so loose, the socks bunched up when I put on my shoes. Perhaps the XXL is the right leg length for me, but from the size chart it seems the calf part will be too small. I'm going to give it a try and see if they fit. Maybe I'm the Goldilocks of compression socks

I used these after surgery instead of the compression socks the hospital used. They are a good fit, comfortable and more attractive. Even my surgeon and physical therapist thought the were great!!
