Product Description

8milelake 131 Piece Thread Repair Kit - M5 M6 M8 M10 M12

DRILLING: Clear the damaged thread with a Standard Drill. Up to M6 the kits include the correct drill. To repair a spark plug thread no Pre-drilling is necessary if using the special Spark Plug Tap. Please pay attention that for Fluteless Taps bigger holes are required.
CHECK: Check that thread and pitch of the tap and the bolt match.
TAPPING: Use the special V-Coil-Taps for cutting the holding thread into the cleared hole.
It is recommended to use suitable cutting oil.
INSTALL THE INSERT: Place insert on installation Tool and position the adjustable ring so that the insert tang is centered in the tang slot. Wind the insert in with a light downward pressure until a half turn below the surface. Don't work against thread direction as the tang could break.
TANG REMOVAL: After finishing lift the installation tool and use the tang break tool to remove the tang. For bigger sizes and spark plug tags use long nose pliers to remove the tang. Due to the narrow and exact tolerances the new thread normally is stronger than the original one.

I got this to fix a stripped 6mm hole on an aluminum dirtbike head. Having everything in one kit makes it easy. The drill was good and sharp as was the tap. Taps are 3 fluted, so you could power tap if you want to. Ample amount of inserts. Good for a home garage or shop.

Literally best thing I’ve ever bought on amazon. I wouldn’t be able to ship these for the $30 I paid shipped lol. Amazing value. Super super quality machines parts. I’m blown away. Fixed my transmission’s stripped holes in no time with it.

Bought this kit to fix up some threads on some aluminium parts. Did the trick! Helicoils weren't the best quality but cant expect much for the price!

Great price for what you get. The taps alone would probably cost most of what this set goes for.I used it to fix a stripped out bolt hole in the side of a small Kohler block, worked like a charm!

Overall a good value. The thing that is bad about the set is the quality of the tools. The seating tool for the helicoils is of very poor quality. Way too soft. The tangs bent when I was using it. It did its job but I doubt it will last more than a couple of jobs. This is like a lot of cheap imported stuff, there is always one short coming or fatal flaw with an otherwise good package. Quality of the inserts, drill and tap are fine.

This thread set worked very well and saved me from having to pull my civic head and take it too a machine shop. Not much to say other than it does what it is supposed to do and the coils held very well. I was able to crank down on the bolt to the correct torque spec with no issues. I used some thread lock (red) when I applied the coil for some extra insurance and it worked great. I'd recommend having this kit handy especially if you are working on cars because sooner or later you will break a bolt or strip some threads and this will save you some aggravation and money.

Nice set of helicoils and tools, but I struggled to get them installed in a blind hole. The installation tool bottomed out and deformed before the coil was fully seated. Would be better if the installation tool had a shorter tip so it wouldnt hit before the coil was seated. The instructions are pretty awful, but after a few failures, I managed to get my project completed.

Never needed one of these before but rebuilding an old motorcycle I found several stripped out screw holes... This kit made quick work of them. Includes everything you need except a way to measure the pitch of the bad bolt (but that's what other tools are for). Extremely high quality and organized in a nice metal box. Not American made but head and shoulders better than my Harbor Freight taps and dies. GREAT addition to my home workshop.

For the longest time I had just paid other people to fix my mistakes when I'd destroy threads while working on things. More recently I needed to replace a strut mount bracket which I destroyed. With this kit being approximately the same price as a new bracket, I figured "why not? I have nothing to lose."Immediately upon receipt of the kit, I noticed that the case it comes with had a sloppy paint job on it and I lowered my expectations - in reality: who cares about what the case looks like anyway? So, following the instructions I drilled out and tapped the holes in the bracket, installed a matching helicoil to the bolt I had. Started to thread the bolt in. I immediately got worried because the bolt was going in just finger tight whereas with the original threads I had to use my impact wrench. It got to the point of applying tension to the bolt as it was tightening down and sure enough the bolt stayed put and was engaged!!! OH MY GOODNESS - YES!!! I am literally slapping myself now for the hundreds of dollars I have wasted through the years paying other people to essentially do what I just did in 1 minute.Get this kit, you won't regret it.
