The fact that this is something that is neither easy to install nor remove has nothing to do with this product itself. It is simply an involved process regardless of where you source the replacement part. I was having issues with water leaking out of my washer, and noticed that there was a tear in the bellows towards the bottom. In retrospect, it makes sense that there would be damage there as that is the place that the clothes drag across whenever they go into or out of the washer.Thankfully, this was a perfect fit as a replacement, and priced far less than some other places have it listed. The process to install this replacement is quite involved, but there are some good video tutorials out there that can work you through the entire process with little deviation required.

This product has been installed for almost 2 months on my whirlpool duet front loader model # WFW9400SU00. My other one had a tear in it that caused a bad leak and me being on a budget as a single mom of 4 $120-150 for a new one was out of my price range. I got this in about 3 days after ordering...Now to the installation. As mentioned before, as a single mom on a budget, one must learn to fix things and learn to repair things as paying for such services is costly. I have taught myself to do appliance repair, plumbing, electrical etc...I even made a career out of it for a short while. My particular model of washer required me to remove the top panel in order to remove the top front panel and disconnect the fuses to the motherboard and lid switch, removed those panels as well, I then had to remove the door to remove the door panel which allowed me to remove the band that held the old bellow in place, then i was able to remove the old bellow then put the new one on then reattach the band then reconnect all removed fuses, etc. Replaced the panels...all four because i used this opportunity to clean out the drain pump as well...this took about 2 hours. But it was worth it. It even holds up better than the original.Sorry so lengthy but yes...buy this and save some money.

The item fit ok. The problem is with the size. The boot did not cover the inner metal part of the washing machine frame (the space between the outer metal part of the machine and the inner rotating drum). The machine frame has some metal grooves which are covered by enamel but the space is large enough to allow garments to get trapped between the rotating drum and metal machine surface. This ruined several garments either by tearing or in the case of some fabrics melting due to friction. I know it was cheaper but I have lost at least the cost difference with the new OEM part (not to mention the fact I had to buy the OEM part to replace this). BTW the picture in this add does not match the item I received. Do not buy this one for a whirlpool duet or expect clothing damage.

Watched the YouTube videos on replacement and overall it was pretty easy to install but I'm pretty handy and had all the tools required. The 4 star review is based on the break-in time for the gasket. I think this gasket is either stiffer than the previous gasket or a little thicker. What that means is the door pushes out a little and doesn't lock when you turn the washer on. To get around this hold the door in when you push the power/start button, this allows the door to lock in place (listen for the click) and the washer will work. After doing this for a 2-4 weeks this gasket seems to work without pushing the door in.

This was a good fit. It worked for my Whirlpool Duet. The bad news, YouTube videos directions were generic at best and ultimately were of minimal use. se as a general guide. I had to improvise. WD-40 lubricating oil came in handy for rusted bolts which are exposed to moister which will happen over time with a front washer seal failure. When seals break, non-moister resistant components (Pretty much all of them) rust and fail. They are not designed for-most oxygenated exposure. In this case simply rotate the replacement screws to a different location when possible as appropriately as best logic dictates and you will most likely have positive and sustained results. Trust in your skills and tools. It took me 3 and one half hours to complete, but I'm a sloe-poke. In my house, the longer to complete task is directly related to its value. So, I t I played the game, and i got massive relational benefits as a direct result of this repair. Warning. I do not recommend the spring expansion tool, as It was less that useless for my washer. Your experience may vary depending on you specific model. Perhaps it is required for other washers. Trust that you can complete this by yourself. If you have the tools readily available and a can-do attitude, then you can easily complete this task in less that 2 hour's.

If you're at all handy you can replace the door boot and save tons of money! So grateful this shipped quickly and was a PERFECT match to fix my washer. Hope to get another 16 years out of it before I have to replace another part. Excellent value for what the manufacturer or local repair shop would have charged. 5 stars for sure!
