I didn't know that I needed these but I did. They work very well and are a great addition to the toolbox. I'm not sure how long they'll last, there is a lot of plastic. They have been durable so far though. They are a good value and I would recommend.

Consider that all of the hose clamp pliers in this set are made almost 100% from plastic. It looks more like a tougher nylon, but I can't be sure. You lock them in place by sliding a plastic ring down around the grip of the pliers. They do not ratchet or automatically lock, so you'll probably need two hands in most situations.The hose clamps removal pliers are nicer than a previous pair I have. I like that they automatically lock, with a spring return mechanism. They also have a slightly different shape of the pieces that engage the clamp springs, which is easier to use.

These pliers come in a handy set, a straight and a 90 each, of three sizes, plus a band clamp and a small hose separator, all for a pretty reasonable price. Super handy for changing a fuel pump or water pump without making an enormous mess, place the pinch-off clamps upstream and downstream, use the included "hold-closed" clips on the handles to prevent them opening, and change the pump in question without having to rush or make a disaster of a mess of the job. Lightweight fiber-reinforced plastic, they're good for low pressure hoses (not for wire reinforced hydraulics) but easy to use, chemical resistant, compact, and cost-effective.

I think the best part of these hose clamp pliers is how inclusive the set is, with six different clamps as well as two specialty pliers to remove hose clamps as well as one to removing stubborn hoses.They are well made and if you've ever used pinch off pliers before, are no different than any other pair you would find. They may not be of the tool truck brand quality, but dang close and just as good as 90% of the ones you would find.I would recommend and buy again if needed.

TL;DR - The actual hose clamp pliers and the hose removal tool aren't bad at all for the price, however, the line clamps are all that typical nylon plastic. Do they work without damaging hoses - sure, but I'm not too sure how long they'd last if you used them a lot - I've got plenty of warped nylon plastic stuff that I've thrown away over the years from heat warping over time.For a weekend project warrior or some in-frequent DIY cooling system repair/maintenance they're perfect, but if you need to use them all the time I'd look for a heavier duty set - Hence the 4 stars. Other than the plastic bits it's not a bad set all. The hose clamp pliers worked no problem and the hose removal tool is a nice addition. The pinch clamps also worked fine, but they just don't feel all that heavy duty so I wouldn't count on them lasting through heavy usage. Like I said prior it's not a bad kit at all, but this is shade-tree/back yard mechanic grade stuff - You know the once in a while sort of tool, not something you expect to use everyday.

Busier than expected

I have used similar inexpensive plastic hose clamp pliers in the past and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these. The plastic is stronger and the 90-degree clamps are spring-loaded which make them easier to use. The pivots are sturdy and don't pop apart or allow the tops to twist apart. I haven't had use for the hose removal tool, and depending on the application it might be a little bulky for how tight clearances are in modern engines, but having this in the past would have saved me a lot of swear words when I ripped the end off a old rubber line by just pulling on the end. Now that I'm prepared for it I'll probably never run into that situation again, lol.
