It works ok - have not tried to take pics or videos, but seems to work fine for viewing objects. Stand with adjustable holder are in fact metal, but pretty flimsy; you have to lock the height, then when you release the lock screw, the holder tends to fall down, so nothing approaching precision, but with a little effort it does the job. It has flexible lighting, although you need to connect the side lights with a separate cable. At min focus distance (max gain) the field of view is 1.8mm wide, so with a screen width of 153mm that works out to a gain of 85 power. I guess if you displayed it on a screen 2.1m wide (85 inches) you'd get the claimed 1200 power, but that seems pretty bogus. With the included stand/holder, max field of view (at top of adjustment range) is 15mm wide, so gain of about 10, but for many things this is too small - you can't see an entire US quarter. If you put a spacer under the base, then swing the microscope head around so it is not pointing at the base, you can focus out to at least 48", at which point the field of view is a very wide 105mm, meaning with a little work and some spacers under the base you have a lot of flexibility to, for example, look at an entire quarter, not just a small spot on it.I was on the fence about returning it since it is so far from it's spec'd performance and pretty flimsy overall, but it does seems to work ok so will keep it.2/24/25 update: Found a taller holder on aliexpress for under $15 that fits perfectly and extends the field of view to a perfect 36mm. It seems very slightly more robust, so a great addition for minimal cost. See attached pic for comparison. Had this holder been included, I would have rated it at least 4 stars. It is now very usable for my work.

Unfortunately wasn't as much zoom as I had hoped. For the price point it's fine, but I was looking for a lil more fire power. If you want to look up coins, fabrics, leaves, bugs etc up close then this surely will be of interest.

The whole family has enjoyed using this microscope. It is easy for all ages from the 9 year old and up. Love being able to remove from the base and take it out exploring.
