I own several small hand tools from Gold Deer now, and Iβm constantly pleased with their quality and construction. These center punches are no different. The punches have easy adjustments for marking depth and are easy to use, even at their highest setting. The punch tips are decently made, having survived numerous uses on bed frame rails, without blunting. Each punch also comes with a replacement tip when they eventually wear down. There isnβt much to these things, but they work well and wear well.

I like that these center punches can be used with one hand and they don't require an excessive amount of force or use of a hammer. They're able to make a decent indent in steel with one press although I also like that they can be used multiple times to make a larger indent if needed.I find that these are easier to align compared to a standard center punch and they've been helpful for marking holes in precise locations. The tips are hard, sharp and I haven't noticed any significant wear on the tips after using them multiple times on steel plate or aluminum. Overall these are handy center punches and the build quality feels adequate. The spring tension can be slightly loosened by twisting the handle which is helpful for using them on wood to prevent them from making a deep hole.Something to note is that the replacement tip for the black center punch doesn't include the small retaining ring needed to keep the tip from falling out. Before installing the new tip, make sure to reuse the retaining ring from the old tip.
