I got this chain for use as a back up for adventure riding. My chain is still fine but its is older and so I thought it would be wise to have a whole spare chain for far away adventures.

This was just what I needed for my motorcycle, and it was just in time after my last chain broke.. this chain was easy to install, and the extra links left in the box just in case I need them

Went to break chain to put it on and the chain breaker pin shattered and in turn destroyed the threads on the chain breaker leaving it useable, so now I cannot even use the chain until I order a better chain breaker.. and I do not want to have to ship back and wait for the replacement when I paid 13$ for express shipping.. disappointing.

This was ordered to go on a KLR 650, and I needed extra links, as I have gone up a few teeth on the rear sprocket. I used the enclosed chain breaker in order to trim the chain to the correct size. Despite the reviewers mentioning problems, mine worked perfectly, I just made sure everything was lined up properly, pushed the first pin until it was past the side plate, then stopped and did the second pin the same way, and at that point the chain came apart just like taking a master link off. Most of these inexpensive chain breakers were not intended to push the pin completely out through the second side plate, and there is absolutely no need for it to do so, pushing the pin in too far will absolutely ruin the chain breaker. The chain itself has a great Gold color, at least until it gets covered in chain lube and dirt. The rivets are quad staked, and the O-rings were in good shape on both sides all the way down the chain, I checked. I have had some time to get enough rides on it for it's first chain adjustment, and it only needed a small amount of adjustment, so not too much initial stretch, which is a good sign of quality materials and construction. The master links are also good quality O-ring style master links, and fit properly both as far as the pin bushings, and the master link clip. Two extra master links besides the one that comes on the chain is a nice bonus. The chain is quiet when ridden if that type of thing is important to you. Definitely keep your chain well lubed, and don't let people who don't know any better tell you that O-ring chains don't need lube, that is just nonsense, the O-rings themselves need lube in order to stay pliable and in one piece, and the chain roller bushings need lube as well. You should put lube on the INSIDE run of the chain, not on the outside, as you want the centrifugal force to push the lube into the chain links, and not fling it off of the outside run onto your bike, clothes and other things that will then need to be cleaned eventually. In summary this is a really strong chain as near as I can tell without putting a lot of time on it yet at this point, but it is made properly and should last quite well. It is an attractive Gold color, a bit brighter in person than it shows in the listing, and it runs quiet. The added master links, and the chain breaker (which is perfectly functional with proper use), make this an exceptional value for a 520 O-ring chain of this quality construction. I give it 5 stars, and recommend this chain!

I am getting ready to replace all the drive chain on our 6x6 amphibious ORV. I am going to buy a whole roll of chain to do the job and I was still going to be a little short. Well lucky me! I saw this chain on the VINE program and it is just the right length to make up what I will be short with a roll of 50ft. So I figured I would check it out and do a review. Best part of all this is, it is some GOOD looking chain for the price. Bad thing? I am really disappointed they don't offer ROLLS of this chain. Win some, lose some I guess. Anyhow, I digress, back to the chain. It is really good looking chain. No burrs on the links as they seem to be properly media tumbled to leave a perfect "broken" edges on everything. (Broken is good in this case. Just a manufacturing term for an edge that has been deburred/rounded/not sharp.) I also took a good look at many of the actual O-rings because, some of the cheaper chain I have purchased in the past have had missing rings or rings that looked frayed or damaged from assembly. No issues I can see on that subject. I have purchased a LOT of chain for street and dirt bikes since I was about 14 years old. First off, if you are going to get chain these days, O-RING chain should really be the only option you should consider. I was around when non O-ring was the only thing we had. It is terrible in comparison to modern, O-ring chain. Don't waste your cash on anything else. Especially since O-ring chain like this from HILAKE is available at such a reasonable price. So, my final verdict on this chain until I get a chance to put some miles on it is....... 5 stars. If I have ANY problems with is such as breakage, excessive stretching or spitting out O-rings, have no doubt I will come back and let everyone know. Because honestly, long term is where the REAL review is at. I know it is a long time to wait but, I will be back next spring for a final update anyhow. Again, because that is what you really want, and need to know is the long term results. In the mean time, keep the shiny side up and take care folks! Oh, one more thing. I forgot to mention how nice, even and complete coverage of the anti-rust plating. Haha, that won't matter much after you get all sorts of mud on it but, it should look good for quite a while when you give your ride a good cleaning! Oh, for the love of the gods, I am losing my mind in my old age! My apologies, I also forgot all about the chain breaker that was included with the chain kit. But hey, I can still ride my KLX650 thru the forest like it's on fire sooooo, there's that much going for me at least. And about that chain breaker. It is nothing fancy and I forgot about it because I have had my own professional breaker for decades. I just didn't think about it. (10 minutes later) OK, just ran out and tested it on my 6x6's old chain. Works great! Again, nothing fancy and it is not as beefy as my old breaker but, it is definitely worth keeping it in your bike's tool kit. It looks to be of decent quality. If you use it like I would imagine the average rider would use it, it just might last you a lifetime since you will probably only use it when you first fit a new chain that is oversize or change sprockets to less teeth. Last time! Take care folks!
