I'm using the one that hooks and using 3mm seed bead size. It works well, makes it a little easier to thread a bead on. I used to use a needle and would always poke my finger, no poking here. I did try to use a thicker thread and the 3mm beads weren't able to get over the end of the loop since the string was doubled over. That could also be the bead holes weren't completely clear and I should have been more picky with which beads to thread on. Overall, I'm happy with this bead threader.
