Works ok. No solar priority to the load. Always drains the battery even when solar input exceeds the DC load drain! There is an ethernet port but ABSOLUTELY NO APP for remote monitoring! Returning it. Update: Solar down, battery drained, CHARGER DIES! when the sun comes out it doesn't start! Needed to be started by an external charger EVERY time! USELESS.

I have only had this product for a week so this review is based on my experience and perspective within this time frame. I update my reviews should impressions change. This product is a good purchase. It is packaged very well and the instructions are clear and concise with easy to understand graphics and proper warnings for safety. The product is manufactured with high standards. Fitment and finish is above standard and the quality of the interface, fasteners, labels, mounting and safety factors are also above standard. This controller is designed to handle multiple voltage inputs as well as multiple voltage outputs for energy storage. This lends flexibility to the user for all types of situations and the product description is accurate to these details. The user interface is easy to understand and the software is configurable for all scenarios. This is not an ordinary basic controller. It is an advanced electronic controller which is required when designing a custom solar array. This unit has many features and accessories that are nice-to-haves such as a remote temperature probe and remote serial connections for advanced controller setups (arrays/series/etc)For the buy in cost, this is a very high quality device that should last. Keep in mind that this device is NOT rated for outdoor use but can be placed in an outdoor cabinet with ventilation. At this time, I honestly find it difficult to find any negative aspects of this unit. My expectations are met and the unit does exactly what it says.

I am absolutely thrilled to be writing this review for the 40A Solar Panel Charge Controller MPPT, a product that has truly revolutionized my off-grid power experience. This impressive piece of technology has become an indispensable part of my solar setup and has certainly earned its 5-star rating. This controller is a marvel of solar technology. It's robust, designed to handle up to 150v PV input, which is more than enough for my setup. I'm using it with four Neo Solar Panels (Model D6M335E4A) - each cranking out an impressive 335 watts. The controller handles the combined power of these panels with ease, efficiently regulating the power and charging my battery bank with no hiccups. What sets this charge controller apart is its MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology. The MPPT ensures that I am getting the most out of my solar panels, regardless of the weather conditions. It's remarkable how it optimizes power extraction, even in the face of fluctuating sunlight conditions - I've noticed a significant improvement in my overall power collection since I started using it.The flexibility of this controller is another big plus. It's capable of handling 12v, 24v, 36v, and 48v systems, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of setups. I'm using it with a 12v power inverter rated for 5,000/10,000 watts, and it integrates seamlessly.Another commendable feature is its versatility when it comes to battery compatibility. It's designed to work with Sealed, Gel, AGM, Flooded, and Lithium batteries. My setup includes four 6 Volt 215AH batteries, and the controller manages them brilliantly, maintaining an optimal charge level and maximizing their life span. The user interface is intuitive and straightforward, making setup and monitoring a breeze. It's also worth mentioning the high-quality build of this controller. It feels sturdy, well put together, and designed to last - an essential quality given the harsh conditions it can often face in an off-grid scenario. In conclusion, the 40A Solar Panel Charge Controller MPPT is a high-quality, versatile, and efficient device that has significantly enhanced my off-grid power setup. It pairs perfectly with my solar panels and inverter, and it manages my battery bank like a charm. If you're looking for a reliable, efficient, and high-performance charge controller, this one certainly fits the bill. Five stars well-deserved.

Update 2/23/24-At this point I am dinging this MPPT pretty hard on the proprietary RS485 port. I bought the proprietary wifi dongle as instructed by the seller. They changed the dongle registration process and by extension made my previously bought dongle incompatible with the new app as it requires a QR code. They did add support for iPhone in the new app. However, the old app is not compatible with latest android version. Making my expensive devices no longer compatible with my new phone.Horrible app development support. No one follows up. Very poor choices made by Ampvint. This is my third MPPT. I currently own the MPINVT 60 amp, an Ecoworthy 60 amp and a generic 40 amp identical, but smaller, to the Ecoworthy 60 amp.The MPINVT 60 amp MPPT performs essentially the same as my other 60 amp MPPT. This unit has a cooling fan that basically runs whenever the unit is producing power. This may be due to the environment I have it in. My fanless MPPT gets so hot, I cannot touch it. So I welcome the cooling features of this device. The terminals are great. Strong clamping force and can fit at least 6 gauge, if not 4. I am currently using 6 gauge. There is some room left for wire. The menu, which some complain about, is fine. Easy to navigate when taking into account the limitations of a 4 key pad. The parameters require a password, which is preprogrammed as ↓↓↓↑↑↑. I do not believe this is changeable. However, easy to remember. The charging parameters are great for lead acid, AGM batteries. However, I don't not really agree with the LI-ION profile as it applies to Lifepo4. They are mostly compatible with Lifepo4 (which I am using this on). There is a float charge setting, which is unnecessary for Lifepo4. Adding a Lifepo4 profile to this MPPT would be simple for the manufacturer to do. Considering Lifepo4 is getting cheaper and is the best choice of battery, it's popularity as a battery choice is climbing. The manufacturer is doing themselves a disservice by not building into the firmware a Lifepo4 battery profile. With this being said, the LI-ION profile will charge your lifepo4 without an issue. However, a diligent person has to check the parameters to ensure they do not damage their battery. The MPPT is highly customizable in terms of over voltage, undervoltage and load settings.Lastly, I will go into the communication port and it's abilities.I purchased the vendor suggested wifi adapter for the communication port. I am nearly certain the port and it's communication protocol are not proprietary, as the manufacturer would suggest. Using an Ethernet tester, you can see which pins they are using for communication. This information is also available in the product manual.I also have a generic solar Bluetooth adapter. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the pin choice for one conductor. I believe with a little experimentation, that I could use another adapter and app to get Bluetooth connectivity to the solarmate android app. However, I currently cannot confirm this.Onto the adapter, which is partially part of this review as it's the only device technically compatible with the MPPT communication port. The adapter is a wifi adapter that can transmit information to their app via cloud and local mode. Local mode requires you to connect directly to the adapter via wifi, taking over your devices wifi connection and essentially eliminating data connection from your phone/tablet.However, once the device is attached to your account and set up through the cloud mode. The device works fine. The app is also fine. I am currently testing to see what kind of power data it will render in the chart provided at the bottom of the page. I am very into data logging as I prefer not to stand over my system to see if it is producing at all hours of daylight. Please be aware, the wifi adapter only has an android app available. Therefore, when buying this MPPT, if you wish to monitor remotely and you only have IOS devices, you may never be able to use the communication port without also purchasing an android device. The adapter appears to be scarcely available, except through pvace. Which ships from China. The adapter is affordable, shipping was high though.Overall, I am satisfied with this MPPT and it's abilities. The manufacturer would be well served to expand their battery profiles and expand the usability of the Ethernet port.Update 10/22/23After much usage of this MPPT I am hung up on the RS485 port and it's proprietary nature. There is ONE app and ONE device advertised to be compatible with this MPPT. It has to be ordered from PVACE with very expensive shipping. These details could be tolerated. The issue is the app. There's a chart and what appears to be data logging. However, the chart doesn't contain anything more than a flatline and no scaling options. If you intend to use the RS485 to do more than view totalized output and realtime data, you're out of luck. The software developer doesn't respond to emails. The charging profile details are changable via the app. Issue is the titles for the selections are not direct and do not match up to the MPPT. Example- MPPT has battery voltage selection. The app has it listed as "number of batteries". Which is very misleading. Another example- MPPT has a selection for "float voltage". The app lists this as "charge voltage".The app is an after thought to the devices it is designed to work with. Considering the manufacturer has this dongle and app as the only option for their rs485 port, a reduction of stars is warranted.Manufacturer needs to get it together or free up the port for freedom of usage/device compatibility.
