[Edit: Just stopped working after a week. This cheap imported trash. Didn’t even bother to box it and send it back.]Wired this in my off grid cabin with 10awg solid wire to switch between my solar inverter and generator power. 10awg is very rigid, but the conical shape of the box made it much easier to wire. Switch box itself seemed thin, and didn’t inspire confidence, but the switch materials themselves seemed heavier. Switch operates well, no slop.

We have off-grid solar power for our home. I got this switch to change the power supply for our water heater from the electrical grid to our home solar supply. This is useful because some days I don't have enough solar power for the entire home, but I can power a few things, and the water heater is an easy load to switch between power sources. Then, on some stormy winter days, we run out of solar power completely, so I need to be able to switch the water heater supply back to the grid.This switch is not UL-listed, and it seems light for switching 40 amps. Our water heater only draws 20 amps, so I am comfortable with this 50% derated load. Also, I would never activate this switch when any moderate or heavy current is flowing through it. For the greatest safety and switch longevity, it is wise to switch only when the device is not drawing current. Otherwise, the electrical arc within the switch can burn the contacts prematurely.

Not the best quality, but quite adequate. Smaller in size, I might suggest a lighter usage of 30 amp instead of 40 amp. The smaller wire is easier to install and puts less stress on the switch. Most medium size generators have a 30 amp service so this is a perfect match for changeover to a 30 amp service generator. This switch should work well in this configuration. It is a good value, but built a little light weight.

Normalmente usados para alimentar dos equipos, lo utilicé al revés, dos alimentaciones para un equipo, ahora puedo operar un cargador de auto eléctrico en 110 o 220 para reducir la carga en el circuito.
