The real industrial switch of this type are expensive, having a low-cost alternative for DIY is a great option. This is a typical changeover switch. The wiring is typical, and all the details are in the supplied instructions. The 40A has a larger size than the 20A model, but quite nice. The installation is made by mounting the switch through a hole on a panel, with relevant holes for screws. The switch is not meant to be standalone, it needs to be in an enclosure. In my project I already need a power supply, solid-state relay, so it is a good match. If you only need a switch, then you may find a similar one with an enclosure. There are no certifications valid For Canadian Electrical Code, so this is good for hobby projects, but would not be legal for high voltage.

This switch is a very good replacement for the reverse switch on a Grizzly G4000 and other clones metal lathe. The faceplate is numbered with 1 0 2 instead of FWD STOP and REV, this is the main difference. You just need to keep your original faceplate when replacing the switch. The build quality is very good. I've not been able to test the switch at 40 amps, since my lathe doesn't use that much.

You have to put your thinking hat on for these. Lay it all out on paper before wiring up.

I got this for my off-grid cabin. I needed something to let me switch from generator power over to my solar/inverter power without having to unplug extension cords. This is perfect. I have #1 for Generator, #0 for All Off, and #2 for my LiFePo4 Battery/Solar/Inverter system. In the heat of the summer, I have to run the generator to run the window unit air conditioner. But in spring, fall, and winter, I just run lights, fans, TV, radio, water pump, etc, off of the solar system. Most of the lights and fans are 12 volt and do not need the 120 volt power, but the TV, StarLink satellite, power tools do. This was a great price and it quality built. I would definitely recommend this, if you need a changeover switch.

I got this switch to make my 3 phase lathe motor reversible. It took me a while to figure out the wiring chart and determine how to wire the switch to do the job. The wiring chart that comes with the switch shows the function diagram but doesn't include a wiring diagram for connecting the switch to a motor. A better diagram would be helpful. The switch is heavy duty with big thick contacts and should last a long time. The crimp on connection clips that are supplied are thick and should carry the required amperage well. The switch will mount on a panel or in a box after you drill a mounting hole. The contact terminal screws have good threads and screwdriver slots. Overall a very good switch for reversing a 3 phase motor. I would get it again.

I'm very pleased with the quality and design of this switch. It works well as power source selector switch, although I had to verify which terminals are connected for each selector position. The documentation provided was minimal, but it suits my needs perfectly.
