I bought a nugget ice maker and was trying to save ice in the freezer in the plastic bags that came with the ice maker. I ended up with frozen blocks of ice that were almost unusable. Worth this Lewis bag set, I am able to save nugget ice and the bag absorbs (removes) some of the water. The included mallet is great for breaking up the ice. If I let the ice sit for 5 minutes, it’s back to being crunchy nugget ice. This also came with a really great ice pick. The canvas bags are a good size.

This kit looked nice when I first opened it, then I went to test the mallet and the head of it slid off. I thought it just wasn't wedged onto the handle properly, but no, the handle is too small to wedge into any part of it. It's just loose. Permanently loose. I had to wedge a small shim of wood into it to get it to work.Additionally, I turned one of the bags over to discover an ugly brown stain. Neither of these were appealing for the fact this would be a gift. I fixed the mallet and got out most of the stain before covering the remainder with an applique. In the end it looked much better, but it took hours of work to things looking nice/in working order.

Needed for travel when I don't have access to crushed ice. Of course getting crushed ice dispensed from a fridge is ideal, if that's not an option, crushing ice manually this way works just fine. Wish there was a way to pour it into glasses easily instead of having to grab it by hand... but I tough it out. ;)

The price of the set is worth an investment. The bag is a great way to crush the ice and then to let it air dry. The mallet works just like a hammer. It’s better than getting out the blender and making a big deal to have some crushed ice.

I purchased the two pack as I needed to break up some peanut brittle. So I then had a separate for breaking up ice. Both bags very useful.
