Well made with heavy duty flapper that seats perfectly with the valve seat. I have a feeling my annual flapper replacement schedule is going to be pushed out a few years.

This toilet was installed with a Fluidmaster 540 and it would not fully flush. I tried everything to make it work. I found an old article recommending a American Standard 738921-100.0070A for this model of toilet, which matched the specs on this flush valve. I switched it up and now the toilet works! There's something about the low profile of this valve that somehow activates the jets or results in more water thrust. I'm not certain but it just works.

The 3” toilet flush valve is so hard to find these days as most toilets are now 2”I needed this for my American Standard 6-liter toilet and it worked PERFECTLY! I can now save over $200 on a new toilet + keep a toilet with a higher flushing capacity.

The nylon bolts that came with the kit did not fit through the holes in the toilet tank. So, I had to reuse the old bolts. I cleaned up the old bolt gaskets and they seemed like they were ok, so I reused them too. Also, the reason why I had to replace my old flush valve is because the flapper needed to be replaced and it was hard to get off. So, when I pulled the old flapper off, the hinge rod broke. The new flapper that came with the new flush valve was of a similar type. So, I pried off the new flapper and replaced it with a rubber(ish) flapper that was very easy to clip on the hinge rods.

Although the entire thing seems to have some minor issues, the main issue is with the main seal. It's a very poor design making the install difficult/impossible. The seal basically has no top part that fits flush against the bottom of the tank, and the entire thing is designed to seal between the unit and the hole in the bottom of the tank. Also, the large nut that locks the unit in place will be a bear to remove years down the road (if it makes it that long) because there's nothing to grip against but the large nut itself. Not many DIYers are likely to have a wrench/tool that large.Total waste of time and money for me. It's going back. Replaced with a Fluidmaster k-540A-015, which has the proper main seal and comes with a large plastic wrench tool which might be handy if working on another toilet in the future. You never know until you get the tank off how hard the old one is screwed on.
