I've been having critter problems at some of my rental homes. I ordered these thinking they would be like others that I've bought before. They lack one thing to make them usable...a way to attach them to the can. They have a nice metal hooks at one end that are rubber coated to make them slip less, but they left out any way to attach it to your can on the other end. All they did was loop the fabric and put one lazy stitch across it to hold the loop. I can't slide the handle off my can and into the loop. I've never see a can that you could slide the handle off. Most are one solid piece of plastic.I don't know what they were thinking. Others I've bought had a 2" wide anchor point that you could clip to the lid or attach around the handle with a zip tie. I could use a zip tie to attach these, but there's still the problem of the single stitch line that they did. That is going to come apart in no time. Two or three lines of stitching would have been better, but you still have the problem of not being able to mount it around the handle.With some modification, a few parts and a little time, I could make these useful. They would help keep cats, opossums and maybe a coon out of your trash, but there is no way these are bear proof. A bear would tear these in two with a swipe of their paw. I really have no idea why they even claim they are bear proof because they aren't. Unless your cat's name just happens to be "Bear."
