This isn't going to work miracles, but it is effective for what it is. Compared to a hot shoe flash alone, this will help soften shadows and even out lighting. The best results where when I aimed the flash head up for a ceiling bounce, but this diffuser also allows some light to hit the subject directly. This resulted in very even lighting in my test photos, with no hot spotting. It's small and lightweight, so it will fit into a camera bag with no problem for those "just in case" situations.Note that both diffusers are identical. The listing made it look like one had a solid back and the other was diffuse all around, but both have the black backing.
