I've often wondered how these worked and I recently had a need in a busy environment to have paper exchanged between two employees. One person puts the blank paper up, or loads the holder, and the other person, while operating machinery, needs quick one handed access to the paper. I have seen these racks hundreds of times at restaurants in the back for order ticket control. This one is aluminum and well constructed, I have used it quite a bit and I'm confident it's study enough to handle a busy shop environment. It uses a row of marbles on a slight slanted rail and the weight of the marbles hold the paper in without clamps. A slight tug on the paper and it's loose. A great execution of a old standby in the restaurant business.

Do be warned that this ticket holder is a little smaller than your "normal" ticket holders. About half the size of a typical ticket holder. It's better for smaller places like coffeeshops or to-go areas or things like that. Or to use as a supplement to a larger ticket holder (i.e. if you run out of space on the regular ticket holder and need a second one to hold the excess). It's actually surprisingly beautiful -- bright and sparkly! The only drawback is its size. If you're looking for a smaller holder then you're good to go.
