Not quite waterproof because it doesn't create a seal anywhere and obviously water can leak in from the area near the straps that aren't covered and in enough rain, I do think these would get saturated, but these absolutely do a great job keeping rain out the same way a water resistant windbreaker would. They covered my backpack well in the rain and kept the essentials dry and the zipper areas dry. They're a little hard to get on if your bag maxes out the size, but if the bag has enough of a dip before it gets to the shoulder area, it'll fit great. What I was happiest with was when I was using this to cover my bags while they were inside my bike basket. I could get a nice tight fit and shove some other gear in there and keep everything in my basket shielded from the rain while I was riding. I wouldn't rely on it in a downpour, but it did great for light rain.

Great backpack cover, featuring a reflective stripe. Fits my 45 litre tactical pack and protects it from rain, moisture and dust while I'm in the field. Having a two pack is fantastic, especially with a dark cover for stealth and a bright cover for high visibility. I highly recommend!

These backpack rain covers are well made with strong elastic. The reflective strips make the packs visible at night which is helpful especially when raining.If the covers were larger I would be happy with them, but they are very small. The listing states in the heading that they fit 30-40 L backpacks, but when I received the cover there is a sticker that says it fits 35 L. I ordered them for 40 L backpacks and they are way too small. I tried them on a 30 L backpack and they will stretch over it and stay on but they do not cover the entire pack on the sides. I don't have a 20 L pack to test, it I think that is the likely size that these would best fit.Well made covers, but deducting a star for the fit issues. If you order one, size up accordingly.

These fit snuggly on my Osprey Tempest 20. There are no retention straps, so the tension of the elastic around the pack is what holds it in place. The material is similar to a light-weight rain jacket. I thought it might pop off my pack when I fastened the hip belt around me, but it stayed in place. These are a good bargain to keep in your pack for when you get caught out in the rain unexpectedly. If you regularly find yourself in the rain, you might want to invest in one that has retention straps.
