I used these as hidden, internal stiffening rods for 3d printed props projects. They did the job, but I was lucky I measured first (measure twice, cut once, as the saying goes). Because these were not 1/4inch at all, and rather closer to 6mm instead. This is typical of most things on Amazon, so I'm not mad about it, but it is still troublesome.There are many applications for POM dowels, and I chose the wrong one. This is on me, so I won't ding it for that. Long story short, these are stiffer than many rods of this type, but less stiff than wood or aluminum. This is more durable than wood, however, so my floppy props will have some longevity.

The material is not round, the diameter varies from .235 to .250 dia. making it hard to hold in a collet.

These rods are advertised as “1/4 inch”. They are NOT 1/4 inch they are smaller. The seller sent a full refund and has worked with me extensively to make things right very impressed

I cut one rod down and used it to replace torlon ball bearings in an outhaul car. Worked perfectly, meaning low friction etc

We use acetal dowels for pins and various fabrication tasks in prototyping. A very useful material to have around.These are fine, 12 pieces, 12" long, black. General materials suppliers would typically sell this .25" diameter material in longer length pieces at less than $1/ foot. However, if purchasing through Amazon prime, you may well come out ahead on the shipping (due to longer length packaging) so the actual landed cost might be less. And the 12" lengths are convenient, as this diameter is likely to be used in short pieces.
