I have been looking for a reasonably priced guillotine paper cutter in a while, as my slide and cut paper trimmer just was not getting it for my paper crafting (I make books and envelope wallets). This paper cutter is indeed heavy duty! The blade is sharp, and I like that there is a safety guard to keep it secure when I am not using. It was packaged for shipping quite well, and super simple to put together. It's not as small as my previous paper trimmer, but it does not take up a ton of room on my quite small crafting desk. I love the extras that came with this (paper clips and inverse corner rounder).I was unable to cut the stated 30 sheets of paper without fringing though. Since I don't plan on cutting that many pieces of paper at one time it is not an issue for me, but just something to be aware of.I find the current price of $45.04 quite reasonable for an item I will use on a regular basis, and can recommend this.

If you're of a certain age, you probably remember your classroom having a paper cutter. This is just like the ones my school had in the 1970s. It's a sturdy cutter with a sharp, smooth cut. There are rubber bumpers on the bottom corners to keep it from sliding while you're using it. There is a plastic guide near the cutting edge to protect your fingers from being cut and an adjustable paper guide to help line up the paper you're cutting. The blade is on a spring that holds it up until you push it down to cut, so there's no chance of the blade falling on you. The hook that holds the blade in the down position when it's not in use isn't flimsy, so it won't let go accidentally. There is an indentation on the top alongside the wood surface where you can keep paper clips if necessary. I especially love the angled guides (30, 45, and 60 degrees) on the top surface; they will come in handy when I'm cutting angled pieces for my calligraphy work.A few accessories come with the cutter: a corner rounder; a container of coated paper clips, a couple of binder clips, and a couple of small clamps. It also comes with an extra paper guide. The only assembly required is to attach the handle onto the end of the blade; the bolt, nut, and allen wrench are included. This cutter is replacing a less sturdy one I've had for years but never really liked. It isn't inexpensive, but it appears very well made and built to last. I expect to get lots of use out of it and recommend it to others.

Idk if this is self-sharpening with use. But if it isn’t, I will be learning to sharpen blades rather than replacing it. It is the first trimmer I have that is actually square. And it has 2 moving things to help you cut many things to the same size. I’ve been MacGuyvering this on my other main guillotine trimmer by taping a thick folded piece of cardstock where I want to cut to. This is so much better. It does have limitations—you can’t get super close to the cutting edge—I think about 4 or 5 inches away is the closest you can get, but it helps.Very stable, well-made, and feels like professional art equipment, not just hobby crafts where squareness can be fudged. And it’s square. Did I mention that it is square? If you have it against the guide edge, it is square, that’s missing in my other 2 guillotine cutters. SQUARE!!! I love it.
