Been wanting to start making my own leads for low voltage and amp projects, not cause I'll make better ones but because cost and learning opportunities. These will be used as my first round POC portable digital voltmeter and ammeter. Pretty excited about these leads. So far, my initial tests show good quality on the banana jack adapters, they fit most of my other multimeter lead sockets. But the best part is the idea of stackable test leads during a test because sometimes.....

I ended up purchasing different connectors with the screw-on wire connector, these were hard to solder without the wire getting too hot.

They work well in all of the insulated banana jacks ony tear equipment. Some older stuff that isn't made for insulated banana won't work, as others have stated. Anything that a fluke meter lead fits seems to work well with these. I used them to repair some broken fluke leads as well and they are great quality and don't come apart easily. 10/10 would recommend.

I bought this and another brand/style to make some leads for my bench power supplies.Unlike the other popular brand on here, the stacking feature will accept the 4mm banana plug, the hole is larger enough to do so on these.Back to the problem, which both brands have...Their plug design , the caged part for making the friction contact is the same design on both amazon popular items...With the safety tip on or off (I took one and remove the safety rubber tip, and ground off the metal nub for it).. it still is too long to work on the commonly found banana jacks / binding posts on the power supplies you find on Amazon, and even older ones I have. They do work on the deeper larger binding posts and work just find on meters with the recessed safety jacks. If you look at the picture I attached, to the left is all the binding post/jacks I have and the fluke DVM these work on (and expect them to work on every other meter with this style of lead socket). To the right, are the binding post /jacks they do not. Importantly those typical found on today's power supplies sold on Amazon. The caging that causes the friction fit is too far back, even knocking off the rubber tip and it's nub didn't shorten it enough. At the center at the bottom of the picture is three banana plugs.Left is a standard one that works on all the jacks shown.Middle is one of these plugs I knocked off the rubber and it's nub for testing. And on the right, is one of these plugs as shipped. You can see how far back the caging is, and what is cause the issue for me, and for now commonly used binding posts/jacks on bench power supplies and other shallow panel banana jacks.Really wanted to like these , and needed them to make leads for my power supplies. But totally useless for me. I'll use them if I need to make leads for my meters.

I used AWG 18 stranded on these; the sprung hooks on the other end couldn't handle anything thicker. These plugs, however, would take much thicker wire. AWG 14 might be easier to solder in place than the thinner 18 gauge wire I had to use. After tinning the ends, I inserted them through the interior pins (there's a cavity there). It took a good bit of heating from my venerable Weller soldering station to get the pins hot enough to bond test lead, pin, and solder into a solid connection. After assembling the three pieces (plug, interior pin, upper shroud), the final result was solid. The parts snapped together firmly and the test lead was securely captured. These can be repaired, if necessary, making them a decent investment.

Really nice set of test leads and the price is right. They snap together very clean and tight. I was expecting them to feel like stiff cheap plastic but was happily disappointed. I prefer these stackable versions to help make taking measurements easier...
