Lab Microscope Slides

GPJYYDS 100 Pack of Lab Microscope Slides, 1mm-1.2mm Glass Slides for Microscope Lab Research

A microscope slide is a thin flat piece of glass, typically 75 by 26 mm (3 by 1 inches) and about 1 mm thick, used to hold objects for examination under a microscope. Typically the object is mounted (secured) on the slide, and then both are inserted together in the microscope for viewing. This arrangement allows several slide-mounted objects to be quickly inserted and removed from the microscope, labeled, transported, and stored in appropriate slide cases or folders etc.

Microscope slides are often used together with a cover slip or cover glass, a smaller and thinner sheet of glass that is placed over the specimen. Slides are held in place on the microscope's stage by slide clips, slide clamps or a cross-table which is used to achieve precise, remote movement of the slide upon the microscope's stage (such as in an automated/computer operated system, or where touching the slide with fingers is inappropriate either due to the risk of contamination or lack of precision).

Clear, consistent, and smoothed edges for safety. Each slide is protected with a thin paper to prevent scratching the viewing surface. Economical and easy to store in the microscope case. Great find.

You receive 100 slides and keep in mind although it says in the web description that these are precleaned they do have some lint on them so you will have to clean them before each use with isopropyl alcohol.  Even when slides were received precleaned I always cleaned them again with alcohol.   No problem since we are using them one by one to make slides to view under the microscope.  I worked for a laboratory and am now retired. I want to introduce my two elementary school-age grandkids to the world seen under the microscope.  All the slides arrived in one piece, they are clear with ground edges.  We have used about ten of them (coverslips are not included) and have no complaints as they are performing as expected.

I've had microscope slides that had pock marks, cracks, or powdered glass bonded right into the slide. Things like that aren't a big deal to the naked eye, but under a microscope, it's a huge hassle. These slides are better than that. They have a clean look. They don't have the little "star" cracks that some others have. The edges aren't especially sharp, either. Some uses lend themselves better to slides that have concave indentations in them. But other things are better with a flat slide. These slides are flat. They're better for looking at microbes and very thin cross-sections. They're also easy to clean.

A while back I saw several craft projects for junk journals that used microscope slides. I have kind of kept my eyes open to get some so I can try those projects out. These 2 boxes of slides have found a place in my craft room now. They are exactly what I wanted; thin glass actual microscope slides. The clarity of these is remarkable. I’m sure they would be perfect for anyone with a microscope to use. For some weird reason I never did a search to find these. I’m surprised they aren’t more expensive. They are packaged with thin tissue between each slide to keep them from scratching. Exactly what I would expect for a product of this type.I will be re-watching those instruction videos and using these soon. They will add a really neat touch to the journals that I make. It’s always great to find a “missing element” to make a craft that I am attracted to. I’m definitely happy with these.

We recently ordered a microscope and are having a blast with it! Unfortunately, it didn't come with glass slides so we had to order these. But they're great. Just thick enough not to break and thin enough to be able to see through well. As a side note, we ordered stain because for many things you look at through the microscope you need stain. Just something to research if you're new to all of this like we are.We recommend these to anyone considering purchasing them. Well worth the money. Five stars.

This is a very attractively priced box of glass microscope slides, but like very-nearly every box of slides I've ever purchased, they are NOT clean straight out of the box. They are generally unscratched, but they come wrapped in paper inside of a cardboard box. The plastic vacuum sealed bag AROUND the cardboard keeps them from rubbing into each other and breaking, but each slide is covered in lint and dust.I would give them a lower rating if it weren't for the face that I have packages of maybe 6 other brands in front of me and they are all also dusty straight out of the box. Unless you pay some serious money for pre-cleaned ones, then this is just what you'll get. One option for cleaning is a vapor bath, and you can find some great instructions for this on the Applied Science YouTube channel. Below is a short summary of how to do that. Otherwise they're great slides! The process to clean glass microscope slides using a vapor condensation cleaning bath with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) involves the following steps:Fill the bottom of a glass container with a small amount of IPA (isopropyl alcohol).Place a clean glass lid on top of the container, ensuring that the lid is not in contact with the IPA.Place the glass microscope slides on the lid, making sure that they are not touching each other or the lid.Cover the container with a second glass lid, creating a closed chamber.Heat the container very gently to create a vapor inside the chamber. The heat should be sufficient to cause the IPA to evaporate and condense on the slides, but not high enough to cause the IPA to boil.Leave the slides in the chamber for several hours, allowing the vapor to condense and clean the slides.Once the cleaning process is complete, carefully remove the slides from the chamber, taking care not to touch the cleaned surfaces.Rinse the slides with distilled water to remove any remaining traces of IPA.Dry the slides with a lint-free cloth or allow them to air dry.Note: It is important to handle the IPA with care as it is flammable and potentially hazardous. Ensure adequate ventilation and follow all safety precautions when using IPA.

I got these slides for my home science lab. Cover slips are not included. I mainly do water and soil testing, botany experiments, homebrewing analysis, and some general microscopy in my lab. These slides are plenty good enough for what I do. They would work well for any homeschool, K-12 school, medical lab, and undergraduate-level work. The slides have minimal distortion and allow good visualization. The product description is accurate. These arrived in three days and in good order. The price is very reasonable, and I will definitely order these and additional lab supplies from this company again.
