RECENTLY BOUGHT A 7 INCH SINGING BOWL OFF OF OFFERUP AND THE STRIKER THAT CAME WITH IT MADE THE SINGING BOWL GIVE OFF A TING TYPE OF RINGING THAT I WAS NOT A FAN OF.AFTER GETTING THIS MALLET AND USING IT WITH MY SINGING BOWL, THE TONE IS MUCH SOFTER, DEEPER AND GIVES OFF A VERY PLEASANT LONG LASTING TONE THAT SOOTHES MY NEWBORN WHEN SHE CRIES.

This is a nice, quality mallet, actually made in Nepal, for sounding a Singing Bowl or gong. The dense felt ball head yields a soft attack, with warm, long, sustained tone, and will give a suspended gong of 12" to 30" a big, rich sound. The felt-covered handle is good for the circular motion on the rim, to yield that "singing" effect, but depending upon my preference, I often use an uncovered, solid wood striker, to yield the best singing effect. A felt-covered handle produces a lower, humming tone, while an uncovered wood handle gives a higher-pitched sustained ringing tone. Both are nice, of course, and if you're really into it, and have a quality bowl, you may want to have both styles of mallet. This is a finely crafted mallet.

I've had two singing bowls for years and only had a small, plain wood mallet to play them. I finally ordered this mallet and I'm impressed with the size and quality; I wasn't expecting it! It is bigger than I thought... I didn't pay attention to the size before ordering. It has a good weight to it which really brings out the bowl's deep tone. The felted handle makes the bowl sing as it should by rubbing around the perimeter. If you have a bowl, you know what I mean. I'm very happy with this mallet!
