This beginner calligraphy set is just what I needed! I have been taking a beginning drawing class, because I've never been able to draw anything recognizable. Also, my penmanship has always been readable but atrocious. I remember having a fight with my elementary school teacher over my formation of capital letters, back in the last century when people learned cursive. But I've always been interested in being able to write with fancy script, and lately I've been wanting to add some words to my drawings.This set is really perfect for helping clean up your act! My only criticism of it is that the pens come in a plastic container and all their caps had popped loose. Fortunately, the plastic kept everything moist and the pens still work. (In my photo, I had put the caps back on.) It could affect the life of your pens so be warned. Just taking one star off for that, as mine seem to be okay. Have not tried the refills. The pads of paper are very handy and you've got lots of material for practicing. For me, the letters modeled are just that, a model. Then I create my own version, as I’ve done since I was eight. It’s a good set, minus the popped caps, but price-wise you should comparison shop.

The ink had all leaked out. It was all over the box and everywhere. What a mess. My money was lost because I had to throw away.
