Nice reeds for the alto sax. They soften quickly and put out a great tone. Well made and sturdy. Son loves them.

Packages of cheap reeds like these are often cut off center, one side having a longer rib of uncut reed than the other, which causes the reed to vibrate with a bias. This makes the reed harder to control and more subject to warbling or wobbling. You might get two or three properly cut reeds per box of ten, and you might not. It hurts to pay more for two or three reeds instead of ten, but you're more likely to get usable reeds. I have learned this 'the hard way'.

I recently pulled my saxophone out after barely playing it since my long ago college years. It didn't take me long to realize that my old #4 and #4.5 strength reeds no longer work for my now weak embouchure. I decided to go back to a beginner level reed, in this case a #2 strength. I ordered a 10 pack of these NICAVKIT brand reeds. I also picked up a single popular brand name reed at the local music store. That single reed cost almost as much as this 10 pack.Side by side, I can't tell a difference in the two different reeds except for the branding on the back. The cane appears the same, with both being a light amber color. The pores and vertical fibers seem much the same as well. They're both well sanded and finished. Sound wise...well, I still sound like a sick goose and my cats are hiding under a bed. So, I can't be a good judge of that for the near future. If you have a child just starting to play a woodwind instrument, you've probably already discovered just how expensive reeds typically are and how quickly they get accidentally chipped. Order a 10 pack of these and buy yourself an adult beverage or earplugs with the savings. As of the time of this review, these reeds are currently available in 2, 2.5, and 3 strengths. By the time the child is experienced enough to move onto a stronger reed, they will also be experienced enough to know if this brand of reed plays any different than a Rico, D'Addario, Vandoren, etc.

I'm a novice saxophone player, so I got the number 2 strength reeds. They have a decent sound. I think these are reasonably priced reeds that are good enough for a beginning player. I like the sleeves that come with the reeds to protect them. Before I used one for the first time, I soaked it for about 15 minutes and that seemed to be enough prep for me.For those of you keeping score, here's the breakdown:Sound Quality- BEffectiveness- BValue- B+Overall Grade: B

Ok, my saxophones have been sitting over a year since we moved. It is time to dust them off and get honking. So I ordered these reeds as an inspiration to get my butt in gear. My Tenor is my favorite, but I love my little Alto as well as that is what I learned on. I didn't have any Alto reeds so this pack was perfect.I have not played them yet, but trust me, I can spot a good reed and a bad one visually and by feel and these are clean, straight and smooth. As much as I play these will likely last a very long time, but who knows, I would love to play so much I run out!Back when I was playing regularly, I would get a two pack of reeds for what this 10 pack is going for, so these are an excellent deal! Once I get one of em on my horn, I'll check back in with a final review.

I received these reeds exactly as advertised. Some of the wood had natural coloring marks.I supposed they work as they should - my daughter is just learning — so I suppose the odd noises are her fault, and not the reeds. I’ll be real excited when she actually knows how to play. :)

These reeds were made perfectly. My partner decided to pick up the sax after years of it sitting idol so of course he needed some new reeds I decided to get these and he was immediately impressed with the quality. They are the right thickness and let out a great sound when blown. He loves them so I will be going with these when he needs more.
