I call it a paper cutter. As a retired elementary teacher, I felt this was an item I had to have in my craft area. I chose this one because of the wooden base. It just feels "right" to me. The weight of the paper trimmer keeps it in place. The blade is beautifully sharp. The guide helps you ensure your cuts are precise. The handle locking mechanism and blade guard helps keep my grandchildren safe. I love seeing it in my craft area, but more importantly, I love using it and knowing I will get the perfect cut!

What I did not like was that the plastic paper guide did not fit the slot. I think that 90% of what I get on Amazon has to be reengineered to work…including this well known brand. Disappointed but not surprised.

I bought this for my mom's birthday. I ordered it a month ahead of time to make sure it would get here in time. It has been sitting unopened until her birthday 3 days ago and the return window closed. It arrived broken and cannot use it because it can cut her easily without the piece attached properly. It was a waste of money. Very disappointed.

Solid product. Cuts straight and clean. Only needs a way to bolt it to the worktable like the original ones.

Bought this for the office where lots of chopping of papers happens. The handle has loosened so that you have to be very intentional of pushing it towards the board in order to get a clean cut. Otherwise it take a few tries to get a piece of paper chopped. And even then it's a messy cut.

Don’t waste your money on paper trimmers with plastic handles that break. This one has a full metal arm and heavy duty parts. Long life, money we’ll spent.

LOVE this cutter! After reviewing many different paper cutters from various price range I decided to go with this one. I wanted one that had a longer length for larger projects, but also was efficient. The cutter went through a TON of laminated sheets w/o a problem! Stayed sharp, cuts straight, ruled lines were great and straight as a guide, and I like how it feels heavy duty so it won't tilt when lifting the handle or shifting weight on the platform. The paper guide wasn't what I thought; it is removable and you just place it where you want. Doesn't slide easily in the grooved guide for it, but then again if it did then it wouldn't stay in place as a guide. I am very happy with this purchase and don't regret buying this cutter.

Works well enough. Seems to be staying sharp, however, with a stack of 10 sheets, it requires a little effort (i.e. the blade doesn't just sink into the paper effortlessly like more expensive models).
