I bartend professionally and this particular wine key, cut me 3x in one shift…. The first timeI have ever been cut from a wine key in my 42yrs. Plus does not really rock that well to get the proper leverage positioning. Do not recommend

Sometimes it's the little things that can really make the difference. In the case of this wine opener it's the handle material - a nice blonde wood. The description says it's oak, but it's lighter than most oak I've seen - almost a maple in my opinion. And then there's the double-step.Many of these corkscrew wine openers have a single step leverage arm, which sometimes is all you need, but often you have to BURY the corkscrew into the cork to get it to lift out completely. Somewhere along the way, some genius thought of a way to get a little boost halfway into the hoisting of the cork, and the double-step was born. Now I'm waiting for someone to ask if I can open wine for them so I can show this beauty off!

A lovely, heavy, useful item for picnic or general use. Good for a stocking stuffer for a wine lover or for your own use.I had a version of this corkscrew that literally had the spiral break off of the unit as I twisted it. I had used it perhaps 10 times, so I searched for something more lasting: Enter this item. The spiral is the heaviest I have seen--I don't think this one will have metal failure when used. The handle is the nicest--mine was smooth and well finished. Not shiny, but clearly finished and with lovely with brass pin detailing. The only negative is that like most pocket knives, the opening action is quite stiff--the blade for removing the lead/plastic wine covers is particularly challenging. This is common for pocket knives, so I can't really take away a star for that. I do believe it will loosen up a bit over time. PRESENTATION: This comes in a tiny box with a full color image of the contents. The corkscrew is in a plastic bag tightly contained inside the box. It is fine for "gifting". I hope this review helps someone.

Part of the reason I got this is because I wanted to get a deep oak color handle. The product however is like it's in the picture -- it might be oak, but it look very light in color and it's unfished, there's no varnish or polish or anything. That's really undesirable in my opinion. The other problem I have is that it's slightly on the small side. A bit of a larger handle would help with the ergonomics, at least as far as I'm concerned (and it's not like I have overly large hands).Apart from that, it ticks all the boxes. I'm not sure how the corkscrew will stand up to mishandling but that's on the user as much as it is on the product.

This is a very serviceable and attractive corkscrew for the price. The double-lever design is so much easier to use than the single-lever type; you can pull the cork in two measured steps rather than having to muscle it out. But one nice little nuance I'd point out: the foil cutter blade protrudes just enough to make it easy to retrieve. Other corkscrews often make this blade so flush with the handle when folded in that you can't fish it out without breaking a nail. This one is just right. See picture. As others have noted, the handle wood is unfinished, and that seems like a strange choice to me. A little coconut oil and it's all good. I had the same issue with a $200 santoku knife, so I guess it's not limited to inexpensive wine toys. ;)

I don't drink wine, but my wife does so I'm all to familiar with opening wine bottles for everyone. This wine opener fits in your hand nicely and gets the cork out no problem. It's nice looking and appears to be real wood for the sides. The only thing that I noticed was that the wood is very dry to the touch. I put mineral oil on it and let it sit for a while and that greatly helped. The handle is now much softer and not as sharp too handle.Seems to be a nice piece. I'll update after several months of use to see how durability is.

This wine opener works quite well with the 2-stage cork lever. The foil cutter also works but my experience is that they dull quickly. I wanted a wine opener with a nice wood handle (I have several plastic-handled ones), but this is not the "nice" wood handle I was looking for. The wood is poorly-machined, does not fit the opener perfectly and is completely unfinished. It does not look elegant at all; more like something homemade in one's garage. The whole opener is also slender and not very robust; it does not give a feeling of strength. Functional but not special.
