This is a great tool and a great price. I have used a cheaper one for years, this is a replacement. My only grip is it doesn't come with a reamer for 3/8-inch tubes. Not only does it not have the reamer, but apparently they don't make one.

Almost next to impossible to remove reamer from head, they seem to seize together I have to hammer out reamer or use two channel lock pliers to separate, I purchased all additional reamers and they do the same. Even drilled out cutter head slightly. Still having issues

As the title suggests...so far, so good. I've used this mill set on approximately 10 pens straight out of the box with good results. The shaft will sometimes become stuck and the pieces are hard to disassemble but I believe that to be more of a user error than the product. I'm curious to see how long it stays sharp and then how easy it can be sharpened.

I'm updating my review, from 5 stars to 2.This WAS a good trimming kit...New, out of the box, it worked VERY well and showed a lot of promise.However, I've made about 20 pens with it, and it's already so dull, it just burns the wood and won't cut into it at all.I went to take the cutter off, and it won't come off without needing a hammer to tap it off. (stick shaft through a hole in a board and tap it through)The cheap mill I had before this one lasted about 100-150 pens and never got stuck on the shaft like that.I've been a long time buyer of Whiteside tools, and they have ALWAYS been great and lasted a long time. This is the first tool from them that I'm actually regretting the purchase.Maybe I got a dud, I don't know.. But spending $40 on something that doesn't last very long and needs a hammer to take it apart or switch shafts.. Doesn't seem like a good investment.

I own many, many Whiteside products. This is the first one that's disappointed me. The design is excellent and, once I got the parts seated, it performed well. The issue was in fitting the trimmer head to the pilot shaft. The fit was, at best, VERY snug...requiring some force which could've cause an injury if I'd slipped. Given that there's a set screw, I don't see any design-related reason such a tight fit would be necessary. I was ultimately able to get it to work on two of the pilot shafts. One I didn't need so didn't try. One of them wouldn't work even when I put it into a vise and tried to carefully drive it with a soft-faced mallet. This won't sway me from future Whiteside purchases, but it was a disappointment.

I had a pen mill set that came with a start-up kit I purchased to begin my pen making endeavors. The cutter on that set simply could not hold an edge; it required resharpening for every pen. I was aware of the Whtieside's excellent reputation for their router bits, so I though this set might be better. I was right. They are far better quality, and they do a wonderful job. If and when I need another pen mill set, this is what I am going to get.

I have only used the 7mm and 8mm at this time. They worked very well. I would recommed this product.

made in USA and works great for me. I have no problems with this tool set. the container holds everything in palce.
