this is helpful when doing pottery and trying to make a lid - it holds the measurement after i take it PRETTY WELL so i can continue to adjust until it fits. it's not perfect but good value for the price

No surprises here... this is a very simple, yet highly functional tool that does what it is designed to do. If you are looking for high precision, expect to pay a lot more. Even so, the wing-nut mechanism allows the caliper to lock in place while you verify your measurement.
