While the quality of the product seems good, it is intended for tapping threads. However the chuck is a standard drill chuck, and not a chuck intended for square tap ends.

I bought this to tap 1/4-20 threads into blind holes in steel plate. The chuck on this tool has three jaws that do not properly grip the tap shank and prevent it from spinning in the chuck. The magnet is not strong enough to hold the tool in place against the torque of the tap. All that said; this is not a junk tool, it seems to be well made and I'm sure that I'll find use for it around the shop, maybe tapping small holes. Seems like 1/4 inch is just beyond the capabilities of this tool.
